III. Minutes:
Approval of Minutes:
December 7, 2015: Approved - First Ms. Curry, Second Mr. Baker

IV. Old Business - Discuss re-district of Olsen and Attucks.
Committee would like to know more about the proposed function of the
property at old Olsen Middle School
V. New Business
Kiwanis of Dania Beach started an annual teacher supply drive: The
Educators Valued Project (EV Project), an approved mini grant to provide
teachers with necessary supplies. The EV Project will first start with
Collins and Dania Elementary. The Kiwanis representatives requested list
of suggested supplies that teachers can use. The committee suggested to
have a survey from the teachers as to what supplies could be useful
(paper, novels, markers, office supply…). Committee also suggested
distributing supplies directly to teachers during the first week of
September 2016.
Kiwanis representatives are targeting to distribute supplies biannually first
to elementary teachers and then once funding will increase they will
include middle school teachers in Dania.
For further actions the Kiwanis will contact Dania and Collins elementary
to receive a survey of suggested supplies and to set a date for distributions.
The Educational Advisory Committee would like to recognize the teacher
and employee of the year from each school at Dania during one of the
commission’s meeting (last meeting in May?). Committee suggesting to
award candidates with a plaque or a framed certificate of appreciation.
The committee scheduled last meeting in May and will re-adjourn
September 12.
