1. ROLL CALL

2. APPROVAL OF MINUTES – December 11, 2017
No motion made to approve the December 11, 2017 minutes.
3. CITIZENS COMMENTS – No Citizens Comments
4. NEW BUSINESS – Board Member Simonetta went to Miami to attend “Miami is not
Plastic” program. He spoke to a Coral Gables Commissioner on how to get rid of plastic
bags. Coral Gables Commissioner is willing to discuss at commission meeting.
Board Member Alvarez said on February 16th is the Patch event. More bags are
needed instead of bracelets for the event and recommended the pledge be printed
on it. All agreed.
Chair Chukerman and Board Member Alvarez suggested hosting 50 students a for
Waste Management presentation. Have the students take a pledge and give them
a bag. The presentation will be videoed taped. Chair Chukerman said the Board
needs someone to coordinate the after school event. The event should be
scheduled near “Earth Day” on April 22, 2018.
Chair Chukerman said she is not interested in coordinating with the Patch until a
GAB brand is established first, then help the Patch.
Board Member Simonetta found bags for .94c each. Chair Chukerman said to get
prices for 250, 500 and 1,000 bags.
Motion made by Carol Stokrocki to get three quotes for bags and printing and
was seconded by Mimi Donly. Motion was passed unanimously.
Board Member Alvarez recommended that the Board do something similar to the
Palm Beach Shores.
Christmas Dumpster for wrapping/boxes (Article provided by Board
Member Donly)
Board Member Stokrocki said the Board should get a dumpster for community
recycling.
Check Dania Elementary for “green” oriented group at the school.
5. OLD BUSINESS – Board Member Simonetta asked Board Member Alvarez if she
contact Dr. Lewis Jackson, Principal, Dania Elementary School. She said not at
this time.
6. DISCUSSION/ACTION – See New and Old Business
