ROLL CALL Patricia Chukerman, Chair Present Carol Stokrocki Absent Mimi Donly Present David Simonetta Present Lilly Schipper Present Corinne Lajoie, Planning & Zoning Manager, AICP, LEED GA Present 2. APPROVAL OF MINUTES – April 24, 2018 Motion made by Mimi Donly to approve the April 24, 2018 minutes and was seconded by David Simonetta. Motion was passed unanimously. 3. CITIZENS COMMENTS – No Citizens Comments 4. OLD BUSINESS ––  City Recycling  Has the City moved to create recycling at any Park?  Staff made the City Manager’s Office & Public Services aware, but, we have not heard a response.  Cigarette Ashtrays  David Simonetta inquired if the City can install free standing cigarette ashtrays near the Dania Beach Grill on the Beach.  Pat Chuckerman was to make request of Katia Bordy, PIO for cigarette boxes  GAB to ask the City Commissioner to install cigarette ashtrays at Dania Beach Grill & Quarterdeck Marina/Beach Parking lot (every 25’ft.)  Sunshine Training needed - Corinne Lajoie to have City Attorney attend next GAB meeting  Hurricane Expo – Pat Chukerman, David Simonetta, and Lilly Schipper to attend. Will have a table and hand out bags.  Corinne Lajoie - to e-mail Lilly Schipper & David Simonetta GAB Mission Statement, etc. and e-mail Board new Membership List  GAB to attend the 6/12 City Commissioner’s meeting to request cigarette stations/stand 5. NEW BUSINESS –  David Simonetta stated after the Hurricane Expo he wants all the Board members to take bags to hand out at will.  Corinne needs to speak with Randie Shane, CEO/Executive Director of Greater Dania Beach Chamber of Commerce, for the GAB table location. Also, provide four boxes for Hurricane Expo Motion made by David Simonetta to have Board Members pass out the bags to the public to enhance the knowledge of the GAB. Motion was seconded by Patricia Chuckerman . Motion was passed unanimously.  David Simonetta raised the issue of the plastic straws. Hollywood is now enforcing the prohibition of plastic straws on the beach. Motion made by David Simonetta to band plastic straws on Dania Beach. Motion was seconded by Lilly Schipper . Motion was passed unanimously.  For June 12, 2018 City Commissioner’s meeting:  David Simonetta is to discuss cigarette ashtray stands and band on plastic straws  Patricia Chuckerman would like all GAB members to attend  David Simonetta brought up signage at beach to be discussed: “Please Clean our Beach” or “Please Help Keep our Beach Clean”  Lily Schipper recommended having weekly or bi-weekly clean-up. 6. DISCUSSION/ACTION – See New and Old Business 7. NEXT MEETING – Tuesday, June 12th at 5:00 pm 8. ADJOURNMENT – at 5:55 PM, motion moved by Mimi Donly and seconded by David Simonetta. Motion passed by voice vote without dissent.
