City of Dania Beach
Green Advisory Board
Regular Meeting
Wednesday, July 17, 2019
5:00 PM
The meeting was called to order at 5:05PM.
1. ROLL CALL

2. APPROVAL OF MINUTES: May 22, 2019
Motion was made by Chair Chukerman to approve the May 22, 2019 minutes of the Green Advisory
Board (GAB) as presented and was seconded by Lilli Schipper. Motion passed 4-0.
3. CITIZENS COMMENTS
Jeff Dorian, Broward County Citizens’ Climate Lobby, discussed proposed Carbon Emissions
Act and he offered to come back to make a presentation. He wants a resolution in support of the
proposed act.
Chair Chukerman invited Mr. Dorian to make a presentation to the GAB on August 21,
2019.
4. NEW BUSINESS
5. OLD BUSINESS
GAB bags were passed out. People have them.
Motion was made by David Simonetta to authorize any GAB Member to use up to fifty bags for any
event within the City – update to be provided at monthly meeting and was seconded by Lilli Schipper.
Motion passed 4-0.
6. DISCUSSION/ACTION
Lilli Schipper discussed the article shared by email with GAB on how to incorporate rooftop
gardens on bus shelters or other places to include bees.
Chair Chukerman suggested a GAB Workshop (next meeting from 5:00PM – 7:00PM) to
further discuss issues in depth.
David Simonetta discussed how some cities are not banning plastic bags/styrofoam. Based on
State Statute, local governments can impose ban.
Discussion to expand the plastic straw ban is on the July 30th City Commission Agenda.
Lilli Schipper said a friend is on the GAB in Hollywood. Chair Chukerman said that she was
trying to coordinate a Combined Hollywood/Dania GAB Meeting. Lilli Schipper would
coordinate efforts.
7. ADJOURNMENT
As there was no further business to discussion, without objection the meeting was adjourned at
6:06PM.
