Green Advisory Board
Special Meeting
Wednesday, March 3, 2020

The meeting was called to order at 5:34 PM.

3. DISCUSSION/ACTION:
The Board held a discussion of the proposed Saturday, April 17th Special Event for Beach
Cleanup.
Eric Brown, City of Dania Beach Parks & Recreation Director, spoke with the Board and
discussed the preferred area of the cleanup at the Dania Beach Park, Whiskey Creek.
Eric also advised that P&R would be able to supply a number of “pickers” and buckets to the
group for use for the day. He also advised that a dumpster could be placed at the park location if
provided by Public Services, and would coordinate the dumpster with them.
The Board then discussed the purchase of additional pickers and the possibility of funding for
such purchases. Staff explained the budgetary process for funding special events is done in
advance and suggested they Board work on a request for the upcoming budget cycle.
Katia Bordy, the City’s Public Information Officer, spoke to the Board and offered assistance
in spreading the word, once the who, what, where, when, why and how were determined.
The Board discussed the proposed Special Event Application with Alexis being tasked as the
member to coordinate the application. Staff to provide the application materials to Alexis along
with examples of previous special events applications for similar events.
Next GAB Regular Meeting is March 17, 2021 at 5:15 PM.
4. ADJOURNMENT:
Motion was made by Board member Chukerman to adjourn the meeting at 6:35 PM and it was seconded
by Board member Lombardo. Motion passed 5-0.
