DANIA BEACH MARINE ADVISORY BOARD
Wednesday, October 17, 2018 – 6pm
1. Call to Order – Clive Taylor, 6:01pm
2. Roll Call
3. Approval of Minutes – Clive Taylor motioned to accept minutes from September 19, 2018. Carol Stokrocki
seconded motion.
4. Reports and Discussions – Conversation about beach. Only one (1) set of operational stairs on beach right now.
No handicap entrance.
Per Michael Huck, sand is being placed on Dania Beaches in November.
Linda Barber said sand placement was discussed during a previous Commission Meeting (about a month ago).
Clive asked how many lifeguards are on duty on beach. Michael Huck said that the total number of lifeguards are 20
(including PT/on call). Daily 6 on duty and 7 on the weekends.
Michael and Clive discussed Eric working with BSO to do a ride along through the city waterways.
5. B.S.O Reports – No BSO. Alex Jacobi transferred to a school.
6. Old Business –
Discussed presentation to Commission that was done by Clive Taylor and Chris Barile on
September 25, 2018. Commission was interested in adding a sheriff on the water and changing signs, but
wanted to have a workshop.
7. New Business:
Holiday break for Marine Advisory Board for November and December.
Clive Taylor motioned to accept holiday break and Chris Barile seconded.
Next meeting will be January 16, 2019.
Luz Ortiz has missed at least 6 months of MAB Meetings (May – October). Clive would like to remove Luz and has
someone to add in her place. Clive asked Linda to send an email to Tom Schneider (done 10/22/18).
8. Comments
Email reminder of meeting to Michael in January mhuck@daniabeachfl.gov
9. Adjournment – 6:47 pm ‐ Motioned by Clive Taylor and seconded by Carol Stokrocki.
