Roll Call – Present: Tony Thackham Excused: Gregory Galyo Glenn Harrington Clive Taylor Joe White Joyce Greene Chris Barile Carol Stokrocki Unexcused: Arthur Perseo Ryan Stone Brenda Blackmon Ronald Brozic Peggy McKenna Sheldon Snyder Linda Barber (late) 3. Approval of Minutes – January 18, 2017 Motion: By Glenn Harrington, seconded by Carol Stokrocki 4. Reports and Discussion Marine Summit – encouraging members to attend to gain knowledge at future meetings 5. B.S.O. Report Nothing to report other than still trying to get another position assigned to Dania Beach and appreciation of City support 6. Old Business (Chris Barile) -Signage along cut-off canal to replace those damaged including those damaged by hurricane. Need permits and multi-jurisdictional approval to replace those signs. -Bridge at US1 and cut-off canal: six-seven foot tidal change causing boats to hit barriers under the bridge. DOT involvement; MAB obtaining reports to ask County for grants to change the diversion of the water under the bridge. -Clive met with City Manager’s Office a few years ago re: replacement of approximately 3,000 feet of signage in front of Derecktor, G&G Marine, Haboure Town Marina re: speeding etc., including from Marine Max up to IT Parker. Currently Slow Speed; need Idle Speed/No Wake in that area. -Encouraging Board members to become more involved including coming to City Commission meetings and writing letters to Commissioners. 7. New Business -Broward County Waterway Clean-up a few weeks ago. Carole Stokrocki asks why is MAB not involved to possibly staff the trash basin, etc. Per Chris Barile, divers were requested at County Summit, DB MAB members either did not or could not volunteer. MAB suggested more announcements from the County and further in advance. -Suggested by Ron Brozic for City to do our own beach clean-up, even if just picking up cigarette butts off the beach. -Two types of clean-ups: waterway cleanup using boats and divers vs. walking beach clean-up and Beach Raker services (already provided daily by the City). 8. Comments -Chris Barile shared water canal stats and expressed opinion that the City fails to acknowledge the importance of Dania Beach being a marine community. Carol Stokrocki agreed. 9. Adjournment Motion: By Carol Stokrocki, seconded by Glenn Harrington Minutes revised based on comments at the April 2017 meeting. __________________________ Clive Taylor, Chair
