3. Approval of Minutes: Motion to approve minutes from September 18, 2019 by Thomas Angelo – 2nd by Linda
Barber.
4. Reports and Discussions:
Discussion on November and December MAB Meetings. MAB will meet on November 20th but will take a winter
recess for the December 18th meeting with the understanding that if needed we will reconvene.
Sharon Malone emailed before meeting that she was interested in being the Liaison between he Marine Advisory
Board and the City. All voted in favor. Congrats Sharon!
Linda Barber asked who sent the contract for Westrec to us. Nick Sanchez said it was Michael Huck. Thomas Angelo
is looking for contract for Harbour Towne. Maybe Sharon can help us with getting this. He will try to get from
Harbour Towne himself first. Thomas Angelo said that Harbour Town is now charging to put boat in water (used to
be free). Before, only charged for parking, now $20 no matter what you do. It’s City owned property. Is this
allowed? Thomas Angelo asked who the dock master of Harbour Town is. Clive said that John Louis is the regional
over that Marina and Beach Marina.
Dean Grant said that he’s been approached by a couple of boat owners at Dania Beach Marina about others
subletting their boats. Those that are subletting are not high-quality looking people. Other boat owners are saying
that these subletters are taking things from people’s boats. They haven’t called the police as they are afraid of
repercussions from on site management. These owners are saying they are not comfortable with on site
management (Frank Arcuri) and they feel that he is part of the network for the subletting.
Dean stated that there are still derelict boats in the Dania Beach Marina. Two of them are taking up prime spots.
They are being scavenged. How long will be they continue to be there for? Clive asked Dean to give him the space
and boat name and he’ll check on them.
The Public is using picnic areas that are specific for Marina. Gates are being pinned open by Frank so everyone is
walking in. Nick agreed that this is happening. Boaters should be using channel 16 to contact Dock Master, but he’s
not responding.
Thomas Angelo asked if overnight docking was allowed. Dean Grant said you can at Dania Beach Marina, just have
to pay the Dock Master. Thomas recognized that Patrick Ferrante works at Harbour Towne. Patrick noted that signs
indicate no overnight.
5. B.S.O Reports and/or Dania Beach Search & Rescue:
Nick Sanchez – last day October 30th. One of the part timers will be taking over.
High tides/king tides affected beach over last few weeks. Luckily, winds died down, dunes stopped water.
Group discussed drainage issues along Gulfstream Road and down Dania Beach Blvd and sidewalk issues going to
beach and that it’s getting overgrown.
