RE :Request to Delete Dania Beach Boulevard from the Trafficways Plan
Federal Highway (U.S.1) and Bryan Road -Current Designation:80-Foot Collector
Staff from the Highway Construction and Engineering Division has reviewed the application to amend the
Trafficways Plan by deleting Dania Beach Boulevard between Federal Highway (U.S.1) and Bryan Road. We
have no objection to the proposed amendment.
However, deleting Dania Beach Boulevard will leave SW 4th Avenue as an isolated Trafficway segment north of
Stirling Road. The Planning Council previously deleted the segment of NW 3" Avenue / NW 4th Avenue (Dixie
Highway)from the Trafficways Plan between "Old" Griffin Road and Dania Beach Boulevard (February 27,
1986). The segment north of Dania Beach Boulevard was previously designated as a "42 -foot,one-way
Trafficway pair.
RECOMMENDATION :Staff of the Highway Construction and Engineering Division recommend APPROVAL ofthe
proposed amendment to delete Dania Beach Boulevard from the Trafficways Plan, and recommends that SW
4th Avenue between Stirling Road and Dania Beach Boulevard also be deleted as part of the same action .

DATE: April 19, 2010
TO: Pete Schwarz, Senior Planner
FROM: John A. Ramos, Senior Planner, Broward County Transit Division
SUBJECT: PCTW 10-1 and PCTW 10-2 Amendments
Broward County Transportation Department, Service and Capital Planning staff has
reviewed the two proposed amendments to the Broward County Trafficways Plan and
have the following comments:
1. PCTW 10-1
Proposed deletion of the 80 foot Dania Beach Blvd Trafficway between Federal
Highway and Bryan Road; located in the City of Dania Beach.
Broward County Transit has no objections to the deletion; however, a section of this
Trafficway is serviced by Broward County Transit’s (BCT) Routes 4 and 16 on Dania
Beach Boulevard, and existing bus stops with ID #’s 1289 and 583. Broward County
Transit requests the recognition of the following improvements.
SIDEWALK REQUIREMENTS FOR BUS LANDING PAD (Dedicate)
- A 4 foot wide x 40 foot long paved bus landing pad (8 foot total expanded sidewalk)
on the north side of Dania Beach Boulevard commencing 100 feet west of the corner
chord at Northwest 1 Avenue and continuing west for 40 feet.
- A 4 foot wide x 40 foot long paved bus landing pad (8 foot total expanded sidewalk)
on the south side of Dania Beach Boulevard commencing 100 feet east of the corner
chord at Northwest 3 Avenue and continuing east for 40 feet.
BUS SHELTER REQUIREMENTS (Easement)
- An 8 foot wide x 15 feet long bus shelter easement on the north side of Dania Beach
Boulevard commencing 120 feet west of the corner chord at Northwest 1 Avenue and
continuing west for 15 feet.
- A 20 foot wide x 20 feet long bus shelter easement on the south side of Dania Beach
Boulevard commencing 120 feet east of the corner chord at Southwest 3 Avenue and
continuing east for 20 feet.

review by the Service and Capital Planning Section of the Transportation
Department and the Paving and Drainage Section of the Highway
Construction and Engineering Division.

2. PCTW 10-2
A.) Proposed addition of a 94 foot University Drive Trafficway between County
Line Road and Loxahatchee Road; located in Parkland and Unincorporated
Broward County.
B.) Proposed addition of a 94 foot Nob Hill Road University Drive Trafficway
between County Line Road and Loxahatchee Road; located in Parkland and
Unincorporated Broward County.
C.) Proposed addition of a 94 foot Loxahatchee Road Trafficway between State
Road 7 and the Urbanized Boundary Line; located in Parkland and
Unincorporated Broward County.
For the record, it should be noted that Broward and Palm Beach Counties are undertaking
mobility studies analyzing the State Road 7 corridor from approximately Sample Road in
Broward County to Glades Road in Palm Beach County, east of Florida’s Turnpike to the edge
of the urban area. The Study area covers approximately 35 square miles in northwest Broward
County.
The Study will address various transit options within the existing right-of-way including improved
bus service (local, limited, rapid bus), corridor designs, transit-supportive infrastructure
(shelters, sidewalks, bicycle facilities, ADA accessible transit shelters, crosswalks, streetscape,
lighting, landscape, transit stations, potential park-and-ride facilities, neighborhood connections,
etc.) to make it easier to walk, bike and use transit.
It was a recommendation from the North Broward County Study group that the three proposed
additions to the Trafficway expand from Broward County Planning Council’s recommended 94
foot Trafficway to 102 foot Trafficway to allow for an extensive bicycle and pedestrian
thoroughfare to permit non-motorized connections.
