CREATIVE ARTS COUNCIL ADVISORY BOARD
TUESDAY, October 15, 2019 – 4:10 P.M.
I. Call to Order / Attendance Sheet Passed:
In attendance: Tony Walsh, Kitte Arnold, Linda Wilson (Acting Sec’y)
Roseprimavere Jacques (New Member CACAB), Kathleen Weekes - CRA
Absent :Sandy Goldbeach (Excused); Emmanuel George ?; Rich Aube ?
(arrived after meeting adjourned); Laura Lombardi - on vacation.
No quorum at this meeting. Discussions of topics only.
II. Approval of Minutes: Deferred until next meeting.
III. Introduction of new Member Roseprimavere Jacques & brief Bio:
International MSW, Artist, Dania Beach resident, Friend of Broward
Detainees, translator for Creole & French. Loves the beach.
IV. DAD and Art in the Hall Update/ November-115th Anniversary: Kathleen
Weekes gave an update. Actual date is 11-20; however in concert with DAD
event, being celebrated 11/9 as a special edition event. History of DAD and
Art in the Hall event on same day, 2nd Sat. each month. Special Logo to
celebrate 115th; Banmner to celebrate 115th; Produced to do a
biodegradable confetti drop; possibly FREE Daniah, Cake? Danish Foods?
To celebrate Danish History. Still in planning stage.; Live Artist; Contacted
Cornelius Bros. relative Kate Ash to add to Birthday Party Atmosphere.
Tony asked is 115th celebration a 1-time event, or other events? Kathleen
advised a formal celebration is to be held at Tropical Acres for approx.. 200
people. Kathleen asked about Tomato Queens who might be asked to
participate: Linda advised Gloria Salvino Mallardi and ? Pat Sullivan from
Hollywood. Both were from So. Broward HS. Hollywood is also using ‘art in
the Hall” in their publicity notices for their Young Circle Gallery & our DB
Art in the Hall is not trademarked. Many other places use Art in the Hall as
well. Special DB Tree lighting and Holiday Celebration will be held on 11-
21-19 & will hopefully feature the Gay Men’s Chorus. Tony to follow-up.
Special 115th Volunteer T-Shirts are being prepared for the celebration.
Atrium Gallery reception will be held 11/9 and we will need additional food
funding since the event is both 115th celebration and our artists reception.
$350-400 for food and beverages requested. Entertainment fee remains
$200. Kisha will order non-alcoholic beverages for public.
A Special DAD/Art in the Hall will be held in conjunction with the Super
Bowl Celebration on 1st Saturday February 1, 2020 instead of 2nd Saturday.
V. Arts and Seafood Poster Art-Call to Artist: Discussion if CACAB might do
this Call to Artists as they did last year. Could not vote, but there was
consensus that it would not likely be a problem. Will make final
determination at November CACAB meeting, if there is a quorum or can
resurrect last year’s call for update and release. Discussion of “CACAB
being “Blind Artist Contest Review” & recommendations for selection.
VI. Updates
Signal Control Box Sub-Committee: Per Kathleen-Pending FDOT approval
Membership & Appointments: Need to have CRA/DB advertise CACAB
Vacancies for applications. We need to have quorum and new members. We are
at least 1-short. Absences and no shows are making us unable to take actions.
VII. Old Business
Signage for Art in the Hall Gallery (inside and outside): Let’s just do it!. Use
regular lettering on banner and outside building signage for Atrium Gallery
acknowledgement.
VIII. Board Members Comments: Check into CACAB attendance records.
