MARTIN LUTHER KING, JR,, "KEEP THE DREAM ALIVE COUNTYWIDE TRTBUTE DAY", JANUARY 14, 1996; AND PROVID|NG FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE. BE lT RESOLVED that the City of Dania recognizes that THE MARTTN LUTHER KING, JR. TRIBUTE COMMITTEE OF BROWARD COUNTY, a coatition of tnterested lndividuals, religious institutions and community organizations, designed to facilitate the development of group activities across Broward county in the spirit of Martin Luther King, Jr., to support communities working together in an integrated society towards a common goal of peaceful coexistence in a "BELOVED COMMUNITY"; WHEREAS, the City of Dania recognizes that the Tribute Committee remains committed to the cultural and creative integrity of each individual project and every municipality in Broward County, Florida, United States of America; WHEREAS, that the City of Dania recognizes that this is the first countywide tribute to Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and all municipalities of Broward County join the Tribute Committee in their dedication to this "mission statement" and the need to bring the community together. WHEREAS, that the citizens of the City of Dania and all municipalities of Broward County join the diverse cross-section and composition of the Committee in recognizing Dr. King's vision in bringing people together from all over the Country to present an evening intended to promote cultural diversity and harmony. WHEREAS, this event will be an opportunity to learn about the impact of the civil rights movement in Broward County; 1 Resolution No. 164-95 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF DANIA, FLORIDA; Section 1. That the Sunday before the official National Holiday be observed as Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., "KEEP THE DREAM ALTVE COUNTYWTDE TRTBUTE DAY"-JANUARY 14, 1996.
