HomeMy WebLinkAboutR-1994-024A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF DANIA, FLORIDA, TO SUPPORT AND URGE THE PASSAGE OF SENATE BILL 618 DESIGNATING RAILROAD TRACKS AS HAZARDOUS CONDITIONS FOR ELEMENTARY.AGE STUDENTS; AND PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, several elementary school-aged children have been killed or severely injured while crossing railroad tracks on their way to school; and WHEREAS, the use of buses or crossing guards would make these routes safer for all young students; and NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF DANIA, FLORIDA: Section 1. That the City Commission of the City of Dania, Florida hereby strongly supports the passage of Senate Bill 618 and urges said passage at the earliest possible date. ADLER, City Attorney RESOLUTTON NO. 24-e4 WHEREAS, the Senate Education Committee has approved a bill that would designate railroad tracks as hazardous conditions for elementary-age students and calls for the use of buses or crossing guards for those situations. Section 2. That this resolution shall be in force and take effect immediately upon its passage and adoption.
