DOCK ENGTNEERING FEES IN AN AMOUNT NOT TO
EXCEED $8,925.00; AND PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE
DATE.
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF DANIA'
FLORIDA:
Section 1. That that certain proposal of Coastal Technology Corporation
dated May 23, 1994, relating to Whiskey Creek boat dock engineering fees not to
exceed the amount of $8,925.00, copy of which proposal is attached hereto as
Exhibit "A", be and the same is hereby accepted and the appropriate city officials
are hereby directed to execute any and all instruments necessary to contract with
Coastal Technology Corporation for said engineering project.
Section 2. That this resolution shall be in force and take effect immediately
upon its passage and adoPtion.

Dear Mr. Flatley:
This is to srbmit a proposal for engineering services relative to permitting and constnrction of docks
at Whiskey Creek in the City of Dania- The following are proposed terms of agreement between
Coastal Technology (Coastal Tech) and the City ofDania (City):

Coastal Tech will prepare a site plan showing the orientation and location for docks in Whiskey
creek Subsequently, coastal Tech will perform depth soundings in whiskey creek somd to veri&
that sufficient depths can be achieved in the vicinity ofthe docks for moored boats.
After data reduction, Coastal Tech will prepare permit sketches illustrating general details of
construclion of the new docks. Coastal Tech will zubmit signed and sealed permit sketches, permit
applications, and cover letter to the City for zubsequent submittal to the regulatory agencies. If
required by the city, coastal rech will respond to the completeness summary of the regulatory
agencies to answer technical questions and generally expedite approval ofthe permits.
Coastal Tech may perform additional environmental studies, hydrographic surveys, or geotechnical
investigations, as may be required by the agencies, prior to issuance ofthe permits. These services
may be performed under separate authorization.

PART tr. TECEMCAL SPECIFICATIONS
Subsequent to preparation of permit applications, Coastal Tech wiil prepare general technical
provisions for constnrction ofthe new docks. The technical specifications will become part ofthe City
of Dania's Request for Proposals (RFP) for new docks. The technical provisions will include the
summary of work, minimum design requirements, construction materiaiq and utility construction. The
provisions will include design standards and permitting requirements.
Fees for Part II services are lump slm $1,250.00
PARTIII-MEETINGS AND CONSI]LTATIONS
At the request of the City, Coastal Tech will attend City Commission meetings, public hearings, and
mecings with respondents to the REP to offer technical assistance with regard to construction of the
new docks. Coasal Tech *ill assist the City to clarify technical questions and to iszue addendums as
needed to the REP, prior to the receipt ofthe proposals. Coastal Tech wiil evaluate each proposal
and generally advise the City as to the technical merits of each submittal.

PART TV - CONSTRUCTION OBSERVATIONS
Coastal Tech will on behalf of the City to monitor the progress of constructioq aaminlstei*OC
technical provisions to the contract, and make periodic site observations to ensure that construction
is in compliance with the planq specffications, and permits. In addition to periodic site observations
made by the Professional Engineer, Coastal Tech will utilize an Inspector to make observations of
work tkoughout the course ofconstruution. The frequency of site visits will be adjusted on a weekly
basis between (5) and ten (10) hours per week depending on the Contractods work schedule. These
wpplemental observations rvill document work progress and will note deficiencies or deviations Aom
the approved plans. Photographs and reports will be submitted to the City upon project completion.
Coastal Tech will review the ContractoCs periodic pay requests and make recommendation to the
City for payment. Coastal Tech will perform a substantial and final observation of construction and
certify to the City and the regulatory agencies ofproject completion.

PART V- EXPENSES
During the course of the project, Coastal Tech will incur expenses needed in the performance of
work Such e><penses may include blueprints, telephone, faxes, mileage, and miscellaneous expenses
as per Coastal Tech attached Hourly Rate Sheet.
Fees are not to exceed.

Coastal Tech will perform Part I, III, IV and V services on an hourly rate basis as per Coastal Tech's
attached Hourly Rate Schedule. Part II services will be invoiced at the lump sum firte upon
completion of the task. The City shall make payment to Coastal Tech upon receipt of an invoice.
Invoices not paid within thirty (30) days and not in dispute shall incur interest at a rate of 1.5 percent
per montlr- The City agrees to pay any cost ofcollection including reasonable attorney's fees incurred
whether or not a zuit is commenced or an appeal is taken.
Ifyou wish us to perform the services descnted above, please issue a purchase order which will serve
