Grammer, Fire Chief YtH RE: Resolution Supporting the Home Rule Act DATE: November 1,1994 Please place the attached resolution on the City Commission agenda for November 8, 1994, for consideration. This resolution is in support of a Special Act and General Law (attached) that we call the Home Rule Act. The Professional Fire Administrators' Association endorsed the resolution by unanimous vote of all members present at their meeting of October 28, 1994. FLATLEY, City Manager JAMES MULFORD, Rescue Division Chief Renewal of Emergency Medical Service M ical Director Agreement DATE: November 1,1994 Attached is resolution approving the above referenced agreement. lnadvertently, the renewal date passed without this agreement belng formally extended for another year. I have spoken with the city Attorney who prepared the attached resolution and modified the agreement to indicate its effective date retroactive to September 30, 1994. It will be appreciated if you will please put this item on the November 8, 1994 agenda. Thank you. JM:clb attachments RE: {t, AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF DANIA, FLORIDA, AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 16.94 AS PASSED AND ADOPTED ON OCTOBER 11, 1994, TO PROVIDE FOR THE SECURING OF VACANT COMMERCIAL BUILDINGS CONTAINING TEN THOUSAND (10,000) OR MORE SQUARE FEET OF FLOOR SPACE; PROVIDING FOR CONFLICTS; AND PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CIry OF DANIA, FLORIDA: Section 1. That Section 1 of Ordinance No. 16-94 as passed and adopted on October 1't, 1994, be and the same is hereby amended to read as follows: "SCCt!O.n_L That apartment buildings, hotels, motels, mobile home parks or other housing complexes, and commercial buildings containing ten thousand (10.0001 or more square feet of floor space. located within the corporate limits of the City of Dania that remain closed and unoccupied for a period of more than thirty (30) days, shall be completely secured by: 1. The installation of shutterc for all the first floor windows and doors, 2. lf the living units are not contained in one building and are separated from each other, each unit must be shuttered and the area completely enclosed by a six (6) foot high chain-link fence and security lighting installed. 3. Security guards shall be posted twenty-four (24) hours each day for facilities of ten or more living units." Section 2. That except as herein amended, all other provisions of said Ordinance No. 16-94 will remain in full force and effect Ordinance No. oRDtNANCE NO._ section 3. That all ordinances or parts of ordinances and all resolutions or parts of resolutions in conflict herewith be and the same are hereby repealed to the extent of such conflict. Section 4.
