The Child Care Connection is requesting a donation from the City of Dania in the amount of t|2,6'17 which will be used to provide the required local match for child care and support for the Resource and Referral Service. The amount of local match required to provide child care for 87 children is $24,M7. Child Care Connection is requesting a contribution of $12,617 from the City of Dania towards our local match requirement for fiscal year 1994-1995. Weinstein, Ed. D. President/Chief Executive Officer lJ-r-,^-+-,---) ATTACHMENT I History of The Early Childhood Development Association of Broward County. lnc. d/b/a Child Care Connection of Broward County, Florida The Early C.hildhood Development Association of Broward County, lnc., doing business as Child Care Connection of Broward County, Florida (CCC) was incorporated in 1973 as a not-for-profit agency. CCC is the HRS designated central agency for At Risk/Low lncome Child Care lformerly Title XX) for Broward County (District 10). As such, CCC has responsibility for coordinating a county-wide network for child care programs serving more than 10,000 children annually whose parents are of low- economic means. Subsidized child care allows families to become self-supporting and to reduce their dependence on public funding. lt provides the children with responsible supervision, good physical care, and an educational program designed to stimulate their growth and development. The Agency provides contract and fiscal management, monitoring and program oversight, staff training, curriculum development and technical support to ensure that each child care facility and Family Day Care home under our "umbrella" strictly maintains our At Risk/Low lncome Child Care standards which are the highest in the State. Other programs the Agency provides include Therapeutic Day Care Programs ior abused, neglected and drug exposed children, child care for adolescent parents, a resource and referral line to assist parents in finding accessible and affordable child care centers, a preschool lending library for child care facilities and parents, a central kitchen, a prekindergarten program, a transportation service for at-risk children, a very effective parent support program, and contracts with corporations to provide child care assistance to their employees. The primary goal of the At Risk/Low lncome Child Care Program is to promote economic self support for indigent families and to provide a safe environment for abused and neglected children. The provision of subsidized child care is essential to accomplishing this purpose. Ninety-nine percent (99%) of the families served in the program are one-parent heads of household. Fifty percent (50%) of the parents in the At Risk/Low lncome Child Care Program are either employed or in training for employment. The remaining fifty percent (50%) are parents seeking employment, incapacitated, children living with other than their natural parents or children who are under supervision of HRS, who are "at risk" or abused and neglected.
