3.1 Acceptance of Certification of General Election results from the Broward
County Canvassing Board.
A motion was made by Vice-Mayor Grace, seconded by Commissioner Hyde, to
accept Certification of General Election results from the Broward County
Canvassing Board.

4. lnduction of new Commissioners by City Attorney Adler.
Mayor Bertino presented a plaque to Bobbie Grace for her dedicated services on
the City Commission from 1989 to '1997.
Mayor Bertino presented a plaque to Albert Jones for his dedicated services on
the City Commission from 1 993 to 1997.

The motion passed on the following roll call vote:
city Attorney Adler dispensed the oath of office to Bob Mikes, Jlm cali and JohnEtling who were elected March 1 1, 1997.
5. Seating of Mayor, Vice-Mayor and Commissioners
Mayor Bertino turned the gavel over to Bob Mikes who was seated as Mayor dueto his receiving the highest votes in the recent election. Jim cali was seaied asVice-Mayor for receiving the second highest votes in the election ano .rorrn etringwas seated as Commissioner.
6. Commission Comments
Commissioner Bill Hyde congratulated the incoming City Commission andmentioned appreciation to previous Vice-Mayor Grace and commissioner Jonesfor their years of service to the City. Voters were commended for the highturnout in the recent election_
commissioner John Etling expressed his appreciation to the citizens of Dania,
friends and family for their confidence in him. Further comments were presented
on his intended goals while in office and his desire to have the commission and
community work together.
Commissioner Bertino thanked Bobbie Grace and Albert Jones for the work that
they have accomplished during their terms in office. He looked fonrvard to
working with the new Commission to make the City better.
Vice-Mayor Cali extended his appreciation for the over whelming support of
confidence recelved from friends, family and citizens. Due to his bacllground as
a Certified Public Accountant, he mentioned his intention to take an active role in
the City's financial interests as well as other important projects on behalf of the
City.
Vito Mancino presented a new gavel to Mayor Mikes.
Mayor Mikes thanked the voters of Dania for being given the opportunity to serve
a third and last term. He mentioned the economic development and tourism
coming to Dania as a result of the Bass Pro Project and his hope that the new
vision from the change in commission will improve quality of life in the City.
