Florida in 1926;

municipality to annex it;
WIIEREAS, Wilton Manors has given the state a beautiful and famous Miss Florid4

WHEREAS, in 1872, J. Sterling Morton proposed to the Nebraska Board of
Agriculture that a special day be set aside for the planting of trees, and
WHEREAS, this holiday, called Arbor Day, was first observed with the planting of
more than a million trees in Nebraska, and
WHEREAS, Arbor Day is now observed throughout the nation and the world, and
WHEREAS, trees can reduce the erosion of our precious topsoil by wind and
water, cut heating and cooling costs, moderate the temperature, clean the air,
produce oxygen and provide habitat for wildlife, and
WHEREAS, trees are a renewable resource giving us paper, wood for our homes,
fuel for our fires and countless other wood products, and
WHEREAS, trees in our city increase property values, enhance the economic
vitality of business areas, and beautify our community, and
WHEREAS, trees are a source of joy and spiritual renewal, and
WHEREAS, the City of Dania has been recognized as a Tree City USA by the
National Arbor Day Foundation and desires to continue its tree-planting ways,
NOW, THEREFORE, l, Bob Mikes, as Mayor of the City of Dania, Florida, do
hereby proclaim April 24, 1997 as
"ARBOR DAY"
in the City of Dania, and I urge all citizens to support efforts to care for our trees
and woodlands and to support our city's community forestry program, and

WHEREAS, the American Legion Auxiliary Unit 304, Dania, Florida, requests
May 10, 1997, as Poppy Day for the City of Dania, Florida.
WHEREAS, the Auxiliary each year nationwide places crepe paper poppies out
for donations to benefit hospitalized and disabled veterans who make the flowers
as physical therapy.
WHEREAS, the City Commission of the City of Dania wish to support the
American Legion Auxiliary in its efforts to benefit our veterans.

This is the first reading of an Ordinance rezoning the following described property from

This request is by EQR - Paradise Point Vistas, lnc., represented by Chris Cutro and Assoc. The
request is to change the zoning designation from Commercial to RM(2) Residential. The Property
is situated at the NW corner of Sheridan St. and Watermark BIvd., and it immediately fronts that
development along Sheridan St. This area has developed to a great ertent and the commercial
needs are being served by other centers in the immediate area, particularly the center at the NW
corner of SE Fifth Ave. and Sheridan St. This subject site is also the subject of a Comprehensive

CHAIRPERSON FOR EACH ADVISORY BOARD OF THE CITY;
PROVIDING FOR THE ADOPTION OF BY.LAWS, KEEP]NG OF
MINUTES, PROVIDING FOR CONFLICTS, AND PROVIDING FOR
AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF DANIA, FLORIDA:
Sec. 1. How constituted.
The city commission may at any time by resolution appoint advisory boards
composed of men or women who are residents of the City of Dania or Broward Countv
who are engaged in business in the City of Dania for a period of six (6) months prior to
their appointment and otherwise qualified to act in an advisory capacity to the city
commission, the city manager, or to any department of the city government, with
respect to the conduct and management of any property or institution or the exercise of
any public functions of the city. The members of such board shall serve without
compensation at the pleasure of the commission, and their duties shall be to consult
and advise with such municipal officers and make written recommendations which shall
become part of the records of the city . Each board shall adopt its own bv-laws and
elect a chairperson and a vice-chairperso n from the membersh io. Minutes of each
meetinq shall be prepared and filed with the citv clerk

1995, purported to amend Pt. Xl, Art. 3, $ 1 , to eliminate the requirement of real

committee or a freeholder eligibility requirement, no textual amendment has been made

(6)AII meetings shall be open to the press and general public and all persons desiring to
appear before the board shall be given reasonable time to present their views on any
matters being considered by the board.

(8)A written report shall be submitted to the city commission not less than once each three-
rnonth period setting fofth the matters considered by the board along witli the board's

This is a request for the site plan approval for the development of the first building of a
three building complex which will provide for two (2) apartment buildings and one (1)
recreational building. The subject site is located at the northeast comer of Northwest l2th
Avenue and Northwest 2nd Street. The subject property is zoned RM (Muhi-family).
The site consists of approximately 2.4 acres. The proposed development provides for
eleven (11) apartments and one (l) manager's office on site.
The site plan has been reviewed in the context ofthe City's Site Development Standards
and the project meets or exceeds the standards for setbacks, parking, landscape, and
building coverage.
The subject site plan is consistent with the dwelopment standards of the City Code. Any
future signs for the site must conform to the minimum development standards of the City.
Any tree removal would need to be required to comply with the City's tree protection
ordinances.
