HomeMy WebLinkAboutR-1996-124RESOLUTION NO. 124-96 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF DANIA, FLORIDA, AMENDING RESOLUTION NO. 45-96 AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO INCREASE THE PROPOSAL OF MADSEN/BARR-ALLWASTE, INC., UNDER SEACOAST UTILITY AUTHORITY BID NO. 93-71-WW, TO SUPPLY LABOR, EQUIPMENT AND MATERIALS TO INSTALL 8.INCH, 1O-INCH AND I2JNCH U-LINERS IN MANHOLE SECTIONS OF THE CITY'S SANITARY SEWER SYSTEM; TO AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED AN ADDTTTONAL SlXry THOUSAND DOLLARS ($60,000.00); WITHOUT COMPETITIVE BIDDING AND WITHOUT ADVERTISEMENT FOR BIDS; PROVIDING THAT ALL RESOLUTIONS lN CONFLICT HEREWTH BE REPEALED TO THE EXTENT OF SUCH CONFLICT; AND PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE GITY COMMISSION OF THE CIry OF DANIA, FLORIDA; WHEREAS, the Charter of the City of Dania, Part lll, Article 3, Section 4, Subsection (J), authorizing the purchase of designated supplies, services, equipment and materials in amounts in excess of fifteen thousand dollars ($15,000.00) without competitive bids and without advertising for bids if such purchases are made pursuant to a competitive bid obtained within the last twelve (12) months by other governmental entities such as the Federal Government, State of Florida or a Florida county or municipality; and WHEREAS, the City Manager has determined that it is necessary to purchase U- Liner sewer pipes from Madsen/Barr-Allwaste, lnc. who is the sole provider for the State of Florida for this liner which charges are based upon competitive bid from the Seacoast Utility Authority, Bid No. 93-71-\ A// as approved by said authority on February 24, 1993, and WHEREAS, the City Manager has determined that such purchase can be made at the least cost to the City by using the Seacoast Utility Authority Bid No. 93-71-\ AN without further competitive bidding and without advertisement for bids. Resolution No. 124-96 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF DANIA, FLORIDA: Section 1. That the City Manager, be and he is hereby authorized to purchase from the proposal of Madsen/Barr-Allwaste, lnc., 1117 N.W. 58th Street, Fort Lauderdale, Florida, dated April 12, 1996, and extended through December 1996, for the furnishing of all labor, equipment and materials required to install 8-inch, 10-inch and 12-inch U-Liners in manhole sections of the City's sanitary sewer system as listed in said proposal, a copy of which is attached hereto as Exhibit "A", and an additional expenditure of an amount not to exceed Sixty Thousand Dollars ($60,000.00) is hereby approved. The charges as set forth in said proposal are based upon a competitive bid for the Seacoast Utility Authority, Bid No. 93-71-\ A/V, as approved by said authority February 24, 1993. Section 2. That the City Manager be and he is hereby authorized to pay from the Sewer Fund Account to Madsen/Barr - Allwaste, lnc. an amount not to exceed Sixty Thousand Dollars ($60,000.00) for Sewer U-Liner pipes.
