A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF DANIA
BEACH, FLORIDA, ADOPTING THE CITY’S 2025 WATERSHED MASTER PLAN; PROVIDING FOR IMPLEMENTATION; PROVIDING FOR CONFLICTS; FURTHER, PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, on November 21, 2022, the City Commission adopted Resolution No.
R2022-172, accepting a Hazard Mitigation Grant Program (“HMGP”) grant award from the
Florida Division of Emergency Management (“FDEM”) in the amount of $300,000 to fund the
development of a Watershed Master Plan (the “Plan”); and
WHEREAS, on November 21, 2022, the City Commission adopted Resolution No.
R2022-177, authorizing the City Manager to enter into an agreement with Florida Atlantic
University, Inc. (the “Consultant”) to develop the Plan as a means to help reduce flood insurance
premiums for the community by positioning us to improve our CRS rating number; and
WHEREAS, the City’s Consultant, Florida Atlantic University (FAU) has developed and
completed the Plan, and Staff respectfully recommends that the City Commission adopt the Plan
attached and incorporated by reference into this resolution as Exhibit “A”; and
WHEREAS, the City Commission finds that this Resolution is in the best interest and
welfare of the citizens of the community.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF DANIA BEACH, FLORIDA AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. That the above “Whereas” clauses are ratified and confirmed, and they are
made a part of and incorporated into this Resolution by this reference.
Section 2. Recitals Adopted. That each of the above-stated recitals are hereby adopted, confirmed and incorporated herein.
Section 3. Adoption. The City Commission hereby adopts the Plan, attached as Exhibit
“A”.
Section 4. Implementation. That the City Manager is authorized to take any action
necessary to implement the Plan and the purposes of this Resolution.
Section 5. That all resolutions or parts of resolutions in conflict with this Resolution
are repealed to the extent of such conflict.
Section 6. That this Resolution shall be effective immediately upon adoption.
