City of Dania Beach Parks, Recreation & Community Affairs Advisory Board Meeting Tuesday, February 17, 2009 Chairman Ely called the meeting to order at 6:03 P.M.

Jimmy Peterman Others present: Mark Felicetty, Assistant Director Parks and Recreation
Kristen Jones, Parks and Recreation Director
Kurt Ely asked if Jimmy Peterman said anything about not attending the meeting tonight, Mark Felicetty replied no.
Kurt Ely requested a motion to approve the January 20, 2009 minutes, motion made by Judy Jensen,
seconded by Chip Brockman. Motion carried unanimously. Department updates by Mark Felicetty:
Bid Awarded for Surveillance Systems at the 1/27/09 Commission Meeting, the system will be up and
running very soon, Mark Felicetty explained that he will consult with Kristen Jones to have the system
installed at Meli Park first, because of the recent vandalism and graffiti. Kristen Jones agreed. Frost Park Flea Market on Saturday, March 7, 8:00 A.M. – 2:00 P.M., spaces are available.
New Business:
Kristen Jones, Mark Felicetty is investigating to remove the roller hockey lights and have it repositioned to hit the dead zone where is very dark and cars are being broke into. Chip Brockman asked if the grant will allow it, Kristen Jones replied that we can re-aim the lights but not remove lights.
Kristen Jones, we are getting ready to do the dog dock diving at Tigertail Lake, Kristen Jones informed the
board that Bill Metcalf passed away; he was a Project Manager for Tigertail Lake, he was a professor at BCC. BCC professors and the family are looking to rename the lake to the Bill Metcalf Sailing Center, the family will write a story and biography of him, as soon as I have it I will bring it over to the board to discuss and then take it in front of the commission for approval.
Julie Brockman, kids playing t-ball at Frost Park and the ants piles at home play and first base are a problem. Tonight when we arrived Debra McElyea went to the shed to get some face masks the lock was on but it wasn’t locked, Kurt Ely asked if anything was missing Julie Brockman replied no. Julie Brockman, there is only one trash can and it is overflowing, Julie requested to have more than one trash can.

Chris Barile, asked what is status of the Linear Park; Kristen Jones replied that Dominic Orlando is the Project Manager and the project is almost ready.
Kurt Ely, this is the last official meeting of this board because of the city elections, if anyone wishes to remain in this board should go to city hall and fill up a form, after you fill up a form make sure that Louise Stilson receives the form. In the last few years we did a good job at the parks, Kristen Jones agreed and thanked the board for all the work accomplished.
Kurt Ely asked if anyone has comment about the board, Judy Jensen replied that she enjoyed the meetings and hopes to be back. Rosalind Curry this is the first time on the board and enjoyed working with all of you.
