A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF DANIA
BEACH, FLORIDA, TO SELECT AN ARTIST AND AUTHORIZATION TO
PROCEED WITH TOP THREE (3) ARTISTS FOR THE AMERICA 250 CITY
ART POSTER PROJECT AND MURAL AT 401 STIRLING ROAD;
PROVIDING FOR CONFLICTS; FURTHER, PROVIDING FOR AN
EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the City of Dania Beach is participating in America 250 City Art Poster
Project, a national initiative of the U.S. Conference of Mayors (USCM) commemorating the 250th
Anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence; and
WHEREAS, selected words will be displayed at the USCM 94th Annual meeting in Long
Beach, California (June 4 – 7, 2026) and featured in print and digital collections distributed
nationally; and
WHEREAS, on March 19, 2025, the City published a Call to Artists, to South Florida
artists inviting original poster concepts for consideration; and
WHEREAS, on April 14, 2025, the open Call to Artist closed with nine (9) applications
in response to the open Call to Artists; and
WHEREAS, on April 13, 2026, the Public Art Advisory Board (PAAB) reviewed all nine
(9) artists submittals and identified the top three (3) artists submissions received as follows:
1. Carlos Pons
2. Jen Little
3. Shiva Jaharaj
WHEREAS, final decision on art pieces and contracting will be the decision of the City
Commission; and
WHEREAS, the PAAB and the City Administration request that the City Commission
approve the top artists/project to submit to the America 250 City Art Poster Project; and
WHEREAS, the PAAB and City Administration further request that the City Commission
choose one (1) of the top three (3) artists and artwork for a mural at 401 Stirling Road.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF DANIA BEACH, FLORIDA:
Section 1. That the foregoing “WHEREAS” clauses are ratified and confirmed as
being true and correct, and they are made a specific part of this Resolution.
Section 2. That the City Commission approves the top artist/project to submit to the
America 250 City Art Poster Project.

Section 3. The chosen artist shall receive an amount not to exceed Two Thousand Five
Hundred Dollars ($2,500.00) to be paid from the Public Art Fund Account #: 115-15-01-515-31-
10.
Section 4. That the City Commission reaches consensus to further negotiate with the
selected artists for mural installation at 401 Stirling Road.
Section 5. That all resolutions or parts of resolutions in conflict with this resolution are
repealed to the extent of such conflict.
Section 6. That this Resolution shall be effective 10 days after passage.
PASSED AND ADOPTED on April 28, 2026.
