A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF DANIA
BEACH, FLORIDA, AUTHORIZING, AFTER PUBLIC HEARING, THE CITY
COMMISSION TO ENTER INTO AN EMPLOYMENT AGREEMENT WITH
THE CITY MANAGER, CANDIDO SOSA-CRUZ; PROVIDING FOR
CONFLICTS; FURTHER, PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, Ms. Ana M. Garcia’s employment as City Manager expires on May 15,
2026, at which time Ms. Garcia shall retire from service to the City; and
WHEREAS, at the March 24, 2026 City Commission meeting, the City Commission
unanimously authorized negotiations with Candido Sosa-Cruz to become the next City
Manager; and
WHEREAS, notice of the hearing was published as prescribed by the Charter; and
WHEREAS, the City Commission of the City of Dania Beach, Florida, as prescribed
by Part III, Article 3, Section 3 of the City Charter, held a public hearing on April 28, 2026, at
a regular City Commission meeting pertaining to execution of an initial City Manager
Employment Agreement with Candido Sosa-Cruz; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to the Charter, Part III, Article 3, Section 3(a), any City
Manager agreement cannot exceed three (3) years in length; and
WHEREAS, the City Commission has been provided the opportunity to meet with the
Mr. Sosa Cruz and to develop a City Manager agreement for a three year period; and
WHEREAS, having conducted the public hearing, the City Commission desires to
enter into an initial three-year agreement with Mr. Candido Sosa-Cruz;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF DANIA BEACH, FLORIDA:
Section 1. That the City Commission authorizes the proper City Officials to
execute the contract with Mr. Candido Sosa-Cruz, a copy of which Agreement is attached as
Exhibit “A” and is incorporated by reference into this Resolution.
Section 2. That the City Attorney is authorized to make minor revisions to the
provisions of the Agreement as deemed to be necessary and in the best interest of the City.
Section 3. That all resolutions or parts of resolutions in conflict with this
Resolution are repealed to the extent of such conflict.

Section 4. That this Resolution shall be in force and take effect immediately upon
its passage and adoption.
