A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF DANIA
BEACH, FLORIDA, AUTHORZING THE SUBMISSION OF AN
APPLICATION FOR THE EPA COMMUNITY GRANT PROJECT FOR THE
HIGH SERVICE PUMP AND DRIVE REPLACEMENT PROJECT, WHICH IS
A CRITICAL COMPONENTS OF THE CITY'S WATER DISTRIBUTION
SYSTEM; AUTHORZING THE CITY MANAGER OR DESIGNEE TO
EXECUTE APPLICATIONS AND RELATED DOCUMENTS; PROVIDING
FOR ACCEPTANCE OR DECLINATION OF AWARDS; PROVIDING FOR
CONFLICTS; AND PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTTVE DATE.
wHEREAS, the United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) administers grant
progmms to support infrastructure improvements and environmental sustainability initiatives; and
WHEREAS, the city of Dania Beach Public Services Department seeks to apply for
funding under the EPA Community Grant Project for the High service Pump and Drive
Replacement Project; and
WHEREAS, the High Service Pumps are critical components of the city's water
distribution system, designed to manage large volumes of water and maintain consistent pressure
throughout the network, ensuring reliable delivery of water to residents and businesses; and
WHEREAS, the proposed project will support the replacement of existing pumps and
drives with updated equipment featuring advanced control systems for real-time monitoring,
improved operational efficiency, reduced downtime, and enhanced system reliability; and
WHEREAS, the project aligns with the city's goals of sustainability, infrastructure
resilience, and long-term service reliability; and
WHEREAS, there is no immediate budgetary impact associated with the authorization to
apply for this grant, and
WHEREAS, the city of Dania Beach has been awarded $1,500,000 in federal funding
through the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency Community Grant Program for the High
Service Pump and Drive Replacement Project; and
WHEREAS, the EPA has granted a waiver of the required non-federal cost share for this
project, and therefore no local matching funds are required; and
WHEREAS, any future acceptance of grant funding, including any required local match,
will be subject to City Commission approval and availability of funds; and
WHEREAS,submissionofanapplicationdoesnotobligatetheCitytoacceptanyaward,
and the city retains the discretion to decline funding if it is determined not to be in the city's best
interest.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF DANIA BEACH, FLORIDA:
section l. That the above "whereas" clauses are ratified and confirmed and
incorporated herein by this reference.
Section2.ThattheCityCommissionherebyauthorizesthesubmissionofan
application to the united states Environmental Protection Agency for the community Grant
Project for the High Service Pump and Drive Replacement Project'
Section3.ThattheCityManager,ordesignee,isherebyauthorizedtoprepare,
execute,andsubmitallgrantapplications,certifications,assurances,andsupporting
documentation required by the EPA.
Section4.ThattheCityCommissionauthorizestheCityManager,ordesignee,to
accept or decline any grant award consistent with the City's best interests and subject to further
Commission approval as required.
Section 5. That all resolutions or parts ofresolutions in conflict herewith are repealed
to the extent of such conflict.
Section 6. That this Resolution shall become effective immediately'
