City of Dania Beach Business Impact Estimate Meeting Date February 27, 2024 Location City Commission Chamber Time 7:00 pm Address 100 W Dania Beach Blvd, Dania Beach, FL Proposed Ordinance Title AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF DANIA BEACH, FLORIDA, AMENDING CHAPTER 22, OF THE CITY CODE OF ORDINANCES, WHICH CHAPTER IS ENTITLED “STREETS AND SIDEWALKS” AT ARTICLE I, ENTITLED “IN GENERAL” BY AMENDING SECTION 22-7A IN ORDER TO MODIFY THE PETITION REQUIREMENTS, PROVIDING FOR A PENALTY FOR FALSE PETITIONS; PROVIDING FOR ONE APPLICATION, PER YEAR; AND MODIFYING COST COVERAGE BY PETITIONERS TO HAVE THE CITY COVER THE COSTS ASSOCIATED WITH THE PROCESS AND INSTALLATION OF CODESIGNATION SIGNS; PROVIDING FOR CONFLICTS; PROVIDING FOR SEVERABILITY; FURTHER, PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE. Summary of Proposed Ordinance (including public purpose to be served) (1) To make it easier for the community to request co-designation of a city street by modifying that the City shall pay the costs associated with mailers of notice of the proposed co- designation, and the cost of installation of co-designation of signs. Newspaper notice shall not be required. Additionally, only one application, per year, is authorized. Providing for modification of notice requirements to 1,000 feet, and for penalties for false signatures on petitions. If there are one hundred (100) or more properties within a quarter- mile distance in all directions of the affected street, as determined by the City's Community Development Department, the owners of thirty percent (30%) of such properties shall be required to sign the petition. Estimate of Direct Economic Impact on Private For-Profit Businesses (a) An estimate of direct compliance costs that businesses may reasonably incur; Not applicable (b) Any new charge or fee imposed by the proposed ordinance or for which businesses will be financially responsible; and Not applicable. There may be a fine, if there is fraud in collecting signatures for a petition for co - designation, but otherwise, there is no fee or charge associated with this ordinance. (c) An estimate of the city’s regulatory costs, including estimated revenues from any new charges or fees to cover such costs. The City would pay the cost for the mailers, advertising and for co-designation signs and installation of same.
