THE CITY COMMISSION, TO FUND THE SOUTHEAST DRAINAGE RETROFIT PROJECT,
PHASE I; PROVIDING FOR CODIFICATION, PROVIDING FOR CONFLICTS; PROVIDING
FOR SEVERABILITY; AND FURTHER, PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE
Summary of Proposed Ordinance (including public purpose to be served)
The Ordinance authorizes city officials to expend over one million dollars for the construction of
Phase I of the Southeast Drainage Retrofit Project. The City anticipated entering a contract for
$16,815,805.24 with the most responsible and responsive bidder following the adoption of this
Ordinance. The Florida Department of Environmental Protection will provide $3,480,000 in grant
funds. Broward County’s Transportation Surtax funds in the amount of $7,21,000 will be used to
fund the project. The public purpose served is improved drainage in the southeast section of the City.
