HomeMy WebLinkAboutR-2026-078 SE Drainage Project Change Order #8RESOLUTION NO. 2026-078 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF DANIA BEACH, FLORIDA, AUTHORIZING THE APPROVAL OF CHANGE ORDER NO. 08 RELATED TO THE SE DRAINAGE RETROFIT PROJECT WITH RIC- MAN CONSTRUCTION INC. FOR SIX HUNDRED SEVENTY-SEVEN THOUSAND SIX HUNDRED EIGHTY-SIX DOLLARS AND EIGHTY SIX CENTS ($677,686.86); PROVIDING FOR CONFLICTS; FURTHER, PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, During ongoing construction activities for the SE Drainage Retrofit Project Phase 1, the City, Engineer of Record (EOR), Construction Engineering and Inspection (CEI) team, and Contractor identified several field-condition adjustments, quantity overruns, operational modifications, utility coordination requirements, and constructability-related items necessary to complete the project in accordance with the intended drainage performance objectives of the approved scope; and WHEREAS, the additional work included in this CO remains within the overall Project scope and supports completion of the approved drainage infrastructure and associated roadway improvements, and includes removal and modification of drainage structures; pump station bypass improvements; additional roadway, sidewalk, paver, and driveway restoration; additional drainage pipe and fittings required during construction; and WHEREAS, Ric-Man Construction Inc. submitted Change Order No. 08, which is attached as Exhibit “A” and incorporated into this Resolution by this reference, in the total amount of $677,686.86 to perform the aforementioned tasks among other modifications; and WHEREAS, Change Order No. 08 will primarily be derived from available underrun bid items identified throughout the project, with current underrun balances totaling approximately $1,032,562.47, which exceeds the value of the proposed change order; and WHEREAS, the total cost of Change Order No. 08 is $677,686.86, and the City Commission authorizes the utilization of available underrun bid item balances within the Contract to fund the additional work associated with this change order. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF DANIA BEACH, FLORIDA: Section 1. That the above “Whereas” clauses are ratified and confirmed, and they are made a part of and incorporated into this Resolution by this reference. 2 RESOLUTION #2026-078 Section 2. That the City Commission hereby approves Change Order No. 08 with Ric- Man Construction Inc. for the total amount of Six Hundred Seventy-Seven Thousand Six Hundred Eighty Six Dollars and Eight Six Cents ($677,686.86). Section 3. That the City Commission authorizes the utilization of available underrun bid item balances within the contract to fund the additional work associated with change order No. 08. Section 4. That current underrun bid item balances total approximately $1,032,562.47 and exceed the value of Change Order No. 08 in the amount of $677,686.86. Section 5. That all resolutions or parts of resolutions in conflict with this Resolution are repealed to the extent of such conflict. Section 6. DESCRIPTION OF WORK: REASON: Following is the work included in this Change Order: 1- Removal of Drainage Structures 2- Modification of Structures 3- Pipe Removal 4- Pump Station Bypass 5- Pavers, Arch Concrete, Sidewalk, Asphalt Driveway Repairs 6- Asphalt on Swale Areas 7- Superpave Asphaltic Concrete, TraAic Level A 8- Utility Fitting, DI/CI, Furnish & Install Reducer 20-49.9" 9- Inlets, DT Bot, Type D < 10' 10- Pipe Culvert, Optional Material Round, 15" SD 11- Pipe Culvert, Optional Material Round, 24" SD 12- Regular Excavation 13- Utility Pipe PVC, Furnish and Install 12" 14- Driveways, Other (Gravel) 15- MOT 16- Changes JS-01 17- Change Inlets to Manholes 18- Driveways Impacted by Change in Roadway Profile 19- Electrical Ductbank, TC Meters Enclosure 1- Removal of drainage structures to allow new construction. 2- Modification of several drainage structures to adjust to existing conditions. 3- Removal of existing drainage pipe to allow new construction. 4- A bypass was added to the pump station to allow the use of a portable in case of breakdown. 5- There is an overrun on the quantity of pavers, concrete and asphalt driveways repairs. 6- There is an overrun on the quantity of asphalt to be installed in swale areas. 7- Several street segments were added to the scope of work and the quantity of asphalt was increased. 8- There was not enough quantity of force main reducers in the contract. 9- There is an overrun on the Ditch Bottom Inlet, Type D<10. 10- There is an overrun on the 15” culvert pipe installed. 11- There is an overrun on the 24” culvert pipe installed. 12- The regular excavation item was increased due to the pipe segments added to the scope. Continue on Page 2 SE Drainage Project Phase I - City of Dania Beach Change Order 08 Page 2 of 4 REASON: (Continuation) 13- There is an overrun on the 15” culvert pipe installed. 14- There is an overrun on the quantity of gravel driveways. 15- There was not enough quantity of MOT days in the contract. 16- Some changes were introduced to the installation of junction structure JS-01. 17- The EOR requested changing two drainage structures from inlets to manholes. 18- Several driveways need reconstruction due to changes in the roadway profile. 19- The electrical ductbank was not included in the electrical pay items. The CT meters enclosure was requested by FPL.
