I. ROLL CALL The meeting was called to order at approximately 5:04PM by Acting Chair Lilli Schipper. Board Clerk Ibel Larios called the roll. Discussions/actions noted below were not limited to what was typed. APPROVAL OF MINUTES a) Approval of Minutes of the Public Art Advisory Board (PAAB) from the May 18, 2026 regular Meeting. Motion was made by Board Member Aptakin to approve the PAAB Minutes from May 18, 2026 and was seconded by Board Member Kent. Motion passed 6-0. III. NEW BOARD MEMBER INTRODUCTION Marc Aptakin, Meaghan Kent, Jennifer Gironda, Claudia Rimoli IV. ACTION ITEMS a) Election of Board Chair and Co-Chair The floor was open for nominations. Board Member Rimoli and Board Member Aptakin nominated Board Member Schipper for Chair who accepted the nomination. Board Member Schipper nominated Board Member Kent for Co- Chair without objection. Board Member Kent accepted the nomination. Motion was made by Board Member Pollesch to accept the nominations for Chair (Lilli Schipper) and Co-Chair (Meaghan Kent) and was seconded by Board Member Aptakin. Motion passed 6-0. Chair Lilli Schipper and Co-Chair Meaghan Kent were elected by vote and acclamation. b) PA-027-26 Cupcan Kava Mural Application at 110 NW 1 Street A slide show was presented for the Board’s decision to make their recommendation to the City Commission tonight for further action on the Cupcan Kava Mural Application. The applicant, Fhilipp Dyatiov, explained the location of the wall facing the street, NW 1 Street. Deputy City Manager Norena clarified the wall location. The applicant answered that they were willing to incorporate more mural designs in the plaza. The mural’s artist was Valerii Murakhouskii. Chair Schipper called for board comments which were positive. After the vote, Mayor Davis inquired about the applicant’s entire vision of the building and the applicant answered. Motion was made by Board Member Gironda to recommend approval to the City Commission of the Cupcan Kava Mural Application at 110 NW 1 Street and directed staff to proceed with the City Commission approval which was seconded by Board Member Aptakin. Motion passed 6-0. Public Art Advisory Board Meeting - Minutes 2 June 15, 2026 V. ADMINISTRATIVE UPDATES a) Summer Meeting Schedule July 15th and August 17th, 2026 would be cancelled. The next meeting would be September 21st, 2026. Motion was made by Board Member Kent to cancel the July 15th and the August 17th, PAAB Meetings which was seconded by Board Member Pollesch. Motion passed 6-0. Without objection, other updates were discussed: Deputy City Manager Norena updated on the wrap mural for 401 Stirling Road. Mayor Davis spoke about the U S Conference of Mayors (USCM). There were thirty cities that participated in the poster contest and she spoke about what transpired. Dania’s poster was very good. She had pictures depicting how all the posters turned out. Planning Art Consultant Rosario Psy gave an update on the workshops for the making of an art piece. Mayor Davis spoke about community involvement with this project. IV. MEETING ADJOURNED As all board business was discussed and without objection, the meeting was adjourned at approximately 5:30 P.M. CITY OF DANIA BEACH COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT DEPARTMENT STAFF REPORT DATE: September 8, 2026 TO: Public Art Advisory Board FROM: Corinne Lajoie, MURP, AICP, Director Linda Flynn, Ph.D., Partner, CPG, Consultant SUBJECT: FY 2026-27 Public Art Program Budget Request Staff requests that the Public Art Advisory Board (PAAB) review the proposed Fiscal Year 2026-27 Public Art Program budget, in the total amount of $164,325, and provide a recommendation for adoption as part of the City's FY 2026-27 budget process. Background The Public Art Program is funded through the City's Public Art Fund and supports the consultant contract with The Cultural Planning Group, public art project commissions, artist stipends, program materials, the public art inventory platform, and maintenance and conservation of the City's public art collection. As of July 31, 2026, FY 2025-26 activity in the Public Art Fund is as follows: • FY 2025-26 expenditures to date: $73,103.50 — Consultant fees, maintenance, the America 250 mural, the Veterans Park mural, and the deposit for The Ocean in a Drop. • FY 2025-26 revenue to date: $62,538.96 — Private development project contributions. • Total Public Art Fund balance (7/31/26): $1,659,235 — Per Finance, the audited fund balance is approximately $1,659,253.
