CITIZENS' COMMENTS Addressing the Commission: A thirty (30) minute "Citizen Comments" period shall be designated on the agenda for citizens and interested persons to speak on matters whether or not scheduled on that day's agenda. Individuals wishing to speak on a matter not included on the "Public Hearing" section of the agenda, which matter pertains to an item before the City Commission which requires a decision of the City Commission, may do so by signing in and submitting a form to that effect with the City Clerk prior Agenda – Community Redevelopment Agency 2 of 2 to the meeting. Speakers at Public Hearings shall also submit such a form. Each speaker shall be limited to 3 minutes for his or her comments. If more than ten (10) speakers express a desire to speak, the Commission shall determine on a meeting by meeting basis whether to (a) extend the time allotted for citizen comments to accommodate all speakers, or (b) whether to limit the number of speakers or amount of time per speaker. CRA INITIATIVES / ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT / GRANTS • Dania Beach Self-Care Week August 1-8: The CRA’s inaugural Self-Care Week was a successful new initiative, with strong participation from businesses across the health, wellness, beauty, and personal care sectors. The business community was enthusiastic and engaged, helping showcase local businesses and the services they provide. Building on the success of this first-of-its-kind program, the CRA looks forward to introducing additional creative initiatives that support and promote Dania Beach businesses in the future. • August CRA Merchant Newsletter: The CRA team developed and distributed the August CRA Merchant Newsletter as a comprehensive communication tool to support, inform and engage local businesses. The newsletter included features on the upcoming Dania Beach Art Week, Back to School, Mayor’s Chamber Address, Development Opportunity (LOIs), newsletter attached. • Federal Highway Streetscape Planters Pilot Program: The CRA successfully completed its streetscape planter pilot program along North Federal Highway, adding vibrant color and enhancing the overall appearance of the corridor. The new planters have received numerous compliments from the community. Based on the positive response, the CRA plans to expand the program along Dania Beach Boulevard and throughout Federal Highway, including evaluating opportunities to place additional planters within roadway medians, photos attached. • FLL Fashion Week Partnership: The August 1, 2026, FLL Summer activation at 101 Dania Beach was a great success, drawing strong participation from local businesses and significant community engagement. Artists, fashion designers, models and other creatives showcased their talent while highlighting Dania Beach as an emerging destination for arts, culture and fashion. Building on this momentum, the CRA will continue working with FLL Fashion Week to explore future events and opportunities that further elevate Dania Beach’s creative economy and regional profile, photos attached. • Dania Beach Art Week Program: The CRA is supporting the Dania Beach Art Week Program, scheduled for September 27 through October 3, 2026. The program will highlight Dania Beach’s growing arts and culture district and feature participation from local galleries and creative spaces, including Comfort for Chaos, The Creative Workshop, The Collective at Dania Beach, C Gallery, Gasper Arts, MAD Arts, Lux Neon Art Gallery, and Bitton Art Gallery, flyer attached. • Rebuilding Together Update o Home Beautification Program ▪ Total number of homes completed: 7 homes completed ▪ Number of homes approved and in line for services: 11 homes on waitlist. ▪ Number of homes being vetted for qualification: 10 homes o Safe At Home Program ▪ Total number of homes completed: 47 completed ▪ Total number of homes in-process (under const): 5 in-process ▪ Number of homes approved and in line for services: 5 homes ▪ Number of homes being vetted for qualification: 10+ homes 2. News / information / Workshops: o UPDATE: ▪ Through savings realized this year, the CRA will support the Greater Dania Beach Chamber of Commerce by becoming a Trustee Membership at a cost of $12,500. This partnership will strengthen engagement with the local business community, support existing businesses, promote economic development and help position Dania Beach as a destination for business investment and opportunity. Additionally, the CRA sponsored the 2026 Mayoral Address featuring Mayor Joyce L. Davis at a cost of $2,500. ▪ CORE Conversations - Local government is the closest to the people and one that has direct impact on the daily lives of residents and businesses. Every year, Dania Beach officials join the community for CORE (Community Outreach Resident Engagement) Conversations, designed to enhance communications and foster community connections for valuable input. Next meeting is Wednesday, September 16 | 6 - 7 p.m. at C.W. Thomas Community Center, located at 800 NW 2 Street. Mayor’s Chamber Address Dania Beach Mayor Joyce Davis will address the Dania Beach Chamber of Commerce, sharing her vision for the city on Wednesday, Aug. 19, at Le Meridien Hotel. Development Opportunity The Dania Beach CRA is seeking developers to submit letters of interest to develop one or both of its residential and mixed-use properties at SW 12th Ave and Phippen-Waiters Rd. Florida Has 14th Largest Economy The Florida Chamber Foundation reports that the Sunshine State has the 14th largest economy in the world. With a year-over-year growth of 6.3%, Florida surpassed Australia and Mexico and landed right behind 13th ranked Korea, according to the foundation. In addition, the foundation reports that Florida is number one for new business start-ups, higher education systems, manufacturing job growth, Black -owned businesses, net income migration, and new business migrations. Florida also has the lowest state debt in relation to population. Dania Beach Art Week Sept. 27 – Oct. 3 Save the date for Dania Beach Art Week, when eight galleries will host a week of arts activities culminating in a weekend gallery hop along the Dania Beach business corridors. Here are a few ideas: • Host an in-progress art demonstration at your business. • Host a lunch/dinner with an artist. • Offer a wall at your business for placement of art work. • Create a community canvas at your business where customers can contribute a stroke or a verse. Back to School The Broward County School year kicks off on Monday, August 10. The start of school is a great time to strategize to meet end of year financial goals. Consider opening earlier to capture customers running errands after morning dropoffs.
