A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF DANIA
BEACH, FLORIDA, CONDEMNING ANTI-SEMITIC ACTS; PROVIDING
FOR CONFLICTS; FURTHER, PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the City Commission of the City of Dania Beach finds that anti-Semitism,
and religious and racial bias have no place in the City of Dania Beach, Florida ("City") and it is
committed to working actively against all forms of prejudice; and
WHEREAS, the City Commission promotes the acceptance of every race, ethnicity, and
religion; and
WHEREAS, the City Commission asserts that every person should be safe and not fear
harm where they live, work, and play; and
WHEREAS, the City Commission denounces anti-Semitism throughout the country,
including in Florida and the City; and
WHEREAS, the City Commission denounces the anti-Semitic social media posts
recently made by the Florida State University SGA Senate President; and
WHEREAS, the City Commission encourages citizens to stand up against anti-Semitism
in all of its forms, and to speak out against anti-Semitism through peaceful speech and action;
and
WHEREAS, the City Commission is committed to safeguarding the City against the
dangers of anti-Semitism, while ensuring that the constitutional rights of every person who lives,
works, and visits the City are protected;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF DANIA BEACH, FLORIDA:
Section 1. That the foregoing "Whereas" clauses are ratified and confirmed to be true
and correct and they are made a part of and are incorporated into this Resolution by this
reference.
Section 2. That the City Commission condemns the anti-Semitic acts committed in
the City, State of Florida, and throughout the country, and declares its stance against anti-
Semitism and racial, ethnic, and religious bias and discrimination.
Section 3. That the City Clerk is directed to distribute copies of this Resolution to the
Florida State University President, John E. Thrasher, the Board of County Commissioners for
Broward County and the Broward League of Cities for distribution to all cities in Broward
County.
Section 4. That all resolutions or parts of resolutions in conflict with this Resolution
are repealed to the extent of such conflict.
Section 5. That this Resolution shall be in force and take effect immediately upon its
passage and adoption.
