DANIA BEACH CITY COMMISSION
MONDAY, NOVEMBER 16, 2020 - 6:00 P.M.

2.1 Presentation to Commissioner Brandimarte and Commissioner Harris by City
Administration
City Manager Garcia welcomed the newly elected officials, thanked Mayor Lewellen and the
current Commission, and presented crystal commemorative awards to Commissioners
Brandimarte and Harris as tokens of the City's appreciation.
2.2 Presentation of Key to the City to Commissioner Brandimarte by Mayor -Elect James
and Commission
Mayor -Elect James and the Commission presented a Key to the City to Commissioner
Brandimarte for her dedicated service to the City of Dania Beach and our seniors, and thanked
her for her selfless service.
Vice -Mayor Odman presented a crystal wave award to Commissioner Harris on behalf of the
CRA for his dedicated service on the CRA Board.
2.3 Presentation of Key to the City to Commissioner Harris by Mayor Lewellen and
Commission
Mayor Lewellen and the Commission presented a Key to the City to Commissioner Harris for his
service and dedication to the City of Dania Beach.
3. Acceptance of Certification of General Election
3.1 Motion to accept the General Election results from the Broward County Canvassing
Board
Results of the November 3, 2020 Municipal Election:
Mayor: Tamara James
6,014 votes
Vice -Mayor: Marco A. Salvino, Sr.
3,547 votes
Commissioner: Joyce L. Davis
3,327 votes
Bill Harris
3,241 votes
Tony Suriani
2,704 votes
Bobbie H. Grace
2,505 votes
Vice -Mayor Odman motioned to accept the Certification of the General Election results
from the Broward County Canvassing Board for the November 3, 2020 Municipal
Election; seconded by Commissioner James. The motion carried unanimously.
Commissioner Brandimarte thanked the residents of Dania Beach for allowing her to serve on
the City Commission and CRA Board for the past eight years.
Commissioner Harris congratulated the newly elected officials and thanked everyone who
supported him. He noted it was an honor to have served for four years, and thanked City staff
and departments for their assistance and support. It has been the honor of his life to be an elected
official in the City of Dania Beach.
Vice -Mayor Odman noted the Commission is very much like a family and commented on each
of her colleagues and on the newly elected officials.
Mayor Lewellen congratulated the newly elect officials and said she is looking forward to
working with them. She thanked the outgoing Commissioners and City Administration for their
friendship, support and assistance. She has never seen such teamwork as she sees in the City of
Dania Beach. She thanked the residents for allowing her to serve as Mayor for the past two
years and noted she looks forward to the next two years.
4. Administration of Oath of Office for Newly Elected Officials
4.1 Commissioner -Elect Joyce L. Davis swearing -in by Broward County Judge Florence
Taylor Bamer, 17th Judicial Circuit Court of Florida
Broward County Judge Florence Taylor Barner administered the Oath of Office to
Commissioner -Elect Joyce L. Davis.

Commissioner Davis thanked everyone and her supporters, and noted she will make sure
everyone is seen and is heard while she is a Commissioner.
4.2 Vice -Mayor -Elect Marco A. Salvino, Sr. swearing -in by Judge Marina Garcia Wood,

Judge Marina Garcia Wood administered the Oath of Office to Vice -Mayor -Elect Marco A.
Salvino, Sr.
Vice -Mayor Salvino thanked all of his supporters and noted he looks forward to again
contributing to the Commission and to serving the City.
4.3 Mayor -Elect Tamara James swearing -in by Senior Pastor Michael Keith Anderson of
New Jerusalem Missionary Baptist Church
Senior Pastor Michael Keith Anderson administered the Oath of Office to Mayor -Elect Tamara
James.
Mayor James thanked her family, friends and supporters for their love and assistance during her
campaign, and noted she is ready for the hard work that needs to be done.
Commissioners Brandimarte and Harris left the dais.
5. Seating of Elected Officials
Mayor James, Vice -Mayor Salvino and Commissioner Davis took their seats at the dais.
City Attorney Ansbro spoke of the outgoing Commissioners and welcomed the newly elected
officials.
Mayor James thanked the City Manager for the special swearing -in ceremony.
City Manager Garcia noted we are ready to make the City move forward.
