A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF DANIA
BEACH, FLORIDA, REQUESTING ADVANCE APPROVAL FROM THE
CITY COMMISSION TO PROCEED WITH THE BID PROCESS FOR THE
SOUTHEAST 5TH AVENUE SAFETY IMPROVEMENT PROJECT,
PROVIDING FOR CONFLICTS; FURTHER, PROVIDING FOR AN
EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the City of Dania Beach endeavors to improve conditions for pedestrians
along City owned rights -of -way within the City of Dania Beach for health, safety and welfare of
its residents; and
WHEREAS, on February 11, 2020, the Public Services Department ("PSD") presented
to the City Commission a proposal for the Oasis XIV Project for improvement of Southeast 131h
Avenue, Southeast 13th Terrace and Southeast 5th Avenue; and
WHEREAS, the PSD separated the Oasis XIV into two separate projects, Southeast 13th
Avenue and Southeast 13th Terrace, to be funded by a Community Development Block Grant,
and a separate Southeast 5th Avenue Safety Improvement Project; and
WHEREAS, the Southeast 5th Avenue Safety Improvement Project will include a paver
crosswalk, new striping, flashing LED pedestrian warning lights, in -road warning lights, and
LED traffic speed monitoring signs; and
WHEREAS, no grant funds are being used for this project.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF
THE CITY OF DANIA BEACH, FLORIDA:
Section 1. That the above "Whereas" clauses are ratified and confirmed, and they are
made a part of and incorporated into this Resolution by this reference.
Section 2. That the City Commission authorizes staff to proceed with the
competitive bidding process for the SE 5th Avenue Safety Improvement Project with funds
appropriated in account number 301-39-58-541-63-10 in the amount of Thirty -Seven Thousand
One Hundred Forty -Nine Dollars ($37,149.00). The actual project costs may exceed or be less
than the appropriation amount.
Section 3. That all resolutions or parts of resolutions in conflict with this Resolution
are repealed to the extent of such conflict.
Section 4. That this Resolution shall become effective upon its passage and adoption.
