Regular Meeting
Wednesday, May 19, 2021

The meeting was called to order at 5:05 PM.
1. ROLL CALL:

2. APPROVAL OF MINUTES:
a. April 21, 2021 regular meeting.
Motion was made by David / seconded by Board Member Guillen. Motion passed 6-0.
2. CITIZENS’ COMMENTS:
3. NEW BUSINESS:
Commissioner Joyce Davis addressed the Board and talked about meeting with Olsen Middle
School. An event is being planned for August 12 back to school with educational communities.
The Green Advisory Board is invited to participate.
The Board thanked Commissioner Davis.
4. OLD BUSINESS:
5. DISCUSSION/ACTION:
The Board held a discussion of the process for requesting legislation, funding and special events from the
City Commission, and of developing programming and itemized budget requests.
They focused on educational programs – Dania Beach social media, youth advisory board.
There is an upcoming event on June 12th - Plastic Pollution Awareness Day – Trash Pirates -
David proposed to ban single use plastic on City premises and mentioned fishing gear and wire on the beach.
The Board scheduled a Special Meeting for June 3, 2021 to discuss funding requests for the Commission.
Next GAB Special Meeting is June 3, 2021 at 5:00 PM.
Next GAB Regular Meeting is June 16, 2021 at 5:00 PM.
6. ADJOURNMENT:
Motion was made by Board Member Lombardo to adjourn the meeting at 6:13 PM and it was seconded
by Board Member Simonetta. Motion passed 6-0.

Special Meeting
Wednesday, June 2, 2021
5:15 PM
The meeting was called to order at 5:10 PM.
David Simonetta, former member, greeted the board to say goodbye.

2. NEW BUSINESS:
Discussion of staff request for Board Members’ resumes or bios.
3. DISCUSSION/ACTION:
Discussion of potential request to City Commission to request funding:
The Board discussed ideas to request funding for, including marketing on social media and
production of educational videos.
The Board was advised by staff to submit an itemized budget request for the Community
Development Department Director to review.
The Board decided that each member would put forward one item, to be routed through
Richard Lorber to chair Laura to compile. The Board was provided a sample template from
CACAB to assist them in preparation.
Laura to compile all four items into one request.
Item to be presented at June 16th meeting.
4. Next GAB Regular Meeting is June 16, 2021 at 5:15 PM.
5. ADJOURNMENT:
Motion was made to adjourn the meeting at 6:05PM and passed 4-0.
