HomeMy WebLinkAboutR-2021-083 Mid-Year Budget Amendment to Energize City Light Posts for Holiday DecorationsRESOLUTION NO.2021-083 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF DANIA BEACH, FLORIDA, AUTHORIZING A MID -YEAR BUDGET AMENDMENT BY THE PUBLIC SERVICES DEPARTMENT TO FUND THE PERMITTING, ENGINEERING DESIGN, AND CONSTRUCTION NECESSARY TO PROVIDE ELECTRICITY TO CITY LIGHT POSTS TO ENABLE LIGHTING OF HOLIDAY DECORATIONS IN AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED TWO HUNDRED THOUSAND DOLLARS, ($200,000.00); PROVIDING FOR CONFLICTS; FURTHER, PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, the City wishes to pursue a more widespread and attractive holiday decoration effort; and WHEREAS, roadway light posts and medians currently do not have electric power available, thereby limiting the installation of lit holiday ornaments and decorative components; and WHEREAS, the work involved to provide electricity to the light posts and medians throughout the City's main corridors includes meeting substantial state permitting requirements, design engineering, purchase and installation of transformers and other hardware, and underground boring to run electrical wiring; and WHEREAS, the estimated total cost of this project is Seven Hundred Thousand Dollars ($700,000.00) to be implemented in two phases, with the initial phase to commence immediately; and WHEREAS, the estimated cost of the initial phase is Two Hundred Thousand Dollars ($200,000.00), and as this project was not contemplated in the fiscal year 2020-21 adopted budget, a mid -year budget amendment is necessary and appropriate; and WHEREAS, the City maintains a list of qualified contractors (obtained through an RFQ process) that have the resources and ability to perform the services required by this project and a selection will be made to complete the initial phase of construction; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF DANIA BEACH, FLORIDA: Section 1. That the above "Whereas" clauses are ratified and confirmed, and they are made a part of and incorporated into this Resolution by this reference. Section 2. That the City Commission authorizes the requested budget amendment in an amount not to exceed Two Hundred Thousand Dollars ($200,000.00), appropriated from the General Fund unassigned fund balance 001-00-00-389-90-01 and transferred to the Capital Projects Fund account 301-39-60-541-63-10. Section 3. That all resolutions or parts of resolutions in conflict with this Resolution are repealed to the extent of such conflict. Section 4. That this Resolution shall become effective upon its passage and adoption. PASSED AND ADOPTED on June 22, 2021.
