Home My WebLink AboutR-2006-033 CRA Expansion (RCP) RESOLUTION NO. 2006-033 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF DANIA • BEACH, FLORIDA PERTAINING TO PROPOSED "ADDITIONAL PROPERTIES", SUCH "ADDITIONAL PROPERTIES" TO INCLUDE PROPERTIES LOCATED BETWEEN THE EASTERN BOUNDARY OF THE CRA AND THE MODELLO PROJECT,WHICH IS INCLUDED;APPROVING A REDEVELOPMENT PLAN FOR THE "ADDITIONAL PROPERTIES", AND ACKNOWLEDGING THAT THE DANIA BEACH COMMUNITY REDEVELOPMENT AREA AND THE"ADDITIONAL PROPERTIES"ARE TO BE KNOWN AS THE "DANIA BEACH RCP (REDEVELOPMENT CAPITAL PROGRAM) REDEVELOPMENT AREA"; PROVIDING FOR CONFLICTS; FURTHER, PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE. BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF DANIA BEACH, FLORIDA: Section 1. That the City Commission of the City of Dania Beach,Florida approves the creation of additional properties to include all properties located between the eastern boundary of the Community Redevelopment Area and the Modello Project, which is included ("additional properties"),which additional properties are depicted on the attached map (Exhibit A); further, the City Commission approves a Redevelopment Plan, a copy of which Plan is attached to this Resolution(Exhibit B). Together with the Community Redevelopment Area,the entire area shall be known as the "Dania Beach RCP (Redevelopment Capital Program)Redevelopment Area". Section 2. That all resolutions or parts of resolutions in conflict with this Resolution are repealed to the extent of such conflict. Section 3. That this Resolution shall be in force and take effect immediately upon passage and adoption. Exhibit B Redevelopment Plan for "Additional Properties" The Community Redevelopment Plan for the Dania Beach Community Redevelopment Area was prepared pursuant to Chapter 163,Part III and was approved by the Dania Beach City Commission on September 24, 2002. The Broward County Board of County Commissioners approved the Community Redevelopment Plan on April 20, 2004. On February 14, 2006, the Dania Beach City Commission approved the inclusion of properties located between the eastern boundary of the CRA and the Modello Project, which is included ("additional properties"). The additional properties are to allow funding consideration for projects located outside of CRA boundaries, but close enough to the CRA such that their development furthers both the CRA Plan and the County Redevelopment Capital Program. The Community Redevelopment Area created in accordance with the statute,combined with additional properties is referred to as the"Dania Beach RCP Redevelopment Area." The Redevelopment Plan for the "additional properties," which was approved by the City Commission on February 14, 2006, includes the following: 1) Construction of 288 high-rise (14-story) residential units, with enclosed parking and other amenities (the "Modello Project"). 2) Construction of an additional 500 mid-or-high-rise residential units,using 500 flexibility units currently available pursuant to the Future Land Use Plan Element of the Dania Beach Comprehensive Plan. The construction of Modello Project and the additional 500 units provide for increased residential development within the city in order to create a greater mix of uses, and thus more sustainable redevelopment activity. They thus are consistent with and complement the redevelopment envisioned in the original Community Redevelopment Plan, prepared in September 2002. 3 RESOLUTION#2006-033 AGENDA REQUEST FORM CITY OF DANIA BEACH AGENDA ITEM NO. 1.
