Broward County is currently in the process of negotiating the details of the General Reevaluation Report (GRR) and the Project Cooperation Agreement (PCA), both documents which must be finalized prior to initial construction. The Corps Headquarters is also reviewing the Final Environmental Impact Statement. As you may be aware, the Office of Management and Budget has once again indicated their intention to implement a policy of eliminating federal funding for beach nourishment. All of the members of the Broward Congressional delegation, as well as many other Members of Congress across the nation have assured us and other coastal localities that beach nourishment projects will ® continue to be funded in the Energy and Water Appropriations bills. However, to lend our support to the effort, the Broward County Board of County Commissioners recently passed the attached resolution in support of continued funding. Your Board may wish to do the same. I have also attached the latest information regarding the Erroward project. Again, thank you for your interest and partnership in this project. Please feel free to contact me or Steve Higgins at the Biological Resources Division at 954-519-1265 if you have any questions or need additional information. Sincerely, Roger J.
