HomeMy WebLinkAboutR-2004-095-Biosolids disposal contract RESOLUTION NO. 2004-095 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF DANIA BEACH, FLORIDA, REQUESTING THE CITY OF HOLLYWOOD DEFER THE AWARD OF A CONTRACT FOR DISPOSAL OF BIOSOLIDS; PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, the City of Hollywood owns and operates the Southern Regional Wastewater Treatment Plant; and WHEREAS, the Cities of Dania Beach, Hallandale, Miramar, Pembroke Pines and Broward County hereafter referred to as Large Users, have a contract with the City of Hollywood whereby the Southern Regional Wastewater Treatment Plant receives and processes sewage from the Large Users; and WHEREAS, under the terms of the contract, the Large Users pay for the treatment of their respective wastewater, as well as their proportionate share of the capital ® investments necessary to maintain, operate, and/or upgrade the Southern Regional Wastewater Treatment Plant; and WHEREAS, the City of Hollywood is considering entering into a contract for the disposal of biosolids generated at the Southern Regional Wastewater Treatment Plant; and WHEREAS, the contract represents a significant capital and operating expense and significantly increases costs to the Southern Regional Wastewater Treatment Plant and therefore the Large Users would be impacted; and WHEREAS, such an action will significantly increase the respective cost to the Large Users. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF DANIA BEACH, FLORIDA: 1 RESOLUTION NO. 2004-095 Section 1. That the City Commission of the City of Dania Beach, Florida, requests the City of Hollywood Commission defer the award of the biosolids disposal contract until such time as the Large Users have evaluated the proposals from Schwig Bioset Technologies and Florida N-Viro and have reached a consensus together with the City of Hollywood on the recommendation of award. Section 2. That this Resolution shall be in force and take effect immediately upon its passage and adoption. PASSED AND ADOPTED on May 25th, 2004. C.K.
