Home My WebLink AboutR-2004-131 Surplus Property (Communicatons equipment) RESOLUTION NO. 2004-131 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF DANIA BEACH, FLORIDA, DECLARING CERTAIN PERSONAL PROPERTY TO BE OBSOLETE, SURPLUS, AND OF NO FURTHER USE TO THE CITY OF DANIA BEACH; DECLARING THE INTENT OF THE CITY TO DISPOSE OF SAME AT THE DIRECTION OF THE CITY MANAGER; FURTHER, PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE. BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF DANIA BEACH, FLORIDA; Section 1. That the city commission has determined that the property listed on attachment hereto consisting of three pages describing miscellaneous communications equipment, is hereby declared of no further use to the City of Dania Beach; and Section 2: That the city manager is hereby authorized by the city commission to dispose of said property that is hereby declared surplus and of no further use to the City of Dania Beach, in an expedient manner and method which he determines will provide the most revenue to the City of Dania Beach. Section 3: That this resolution shall be in force and take effect immediately upon its passage and adoption. Section 4: That all resolutions or parts of resolutions in conflict herewith are repealed to the extent of such conflict. As you are aware, we have completed the equipment conversion portion of our anticipated communications takeover by Broward County scheduled to take effect on or about September 30, 2004. The subject equipment is of no further use to this department or any other entity in this area as the system of which it was a part has been completely dismantled. ® Unbeknownst to us, the City of Hollywood accepted bids for their surplus equipment and a company from the State of Virginia, New London Technology, Inc., was the highest bidder. Several weeks ago, upon learning quite by accident that a representative of the company was in our area and knowing that our equipment had previously been a part of the Hollywood system, I invited the representative to look over our radios, chargers, etc. and was given a price of $4,500.00. 1 am not sure that we will be able to take advantage of this offer even though this company satisfied all the requirements of the bid process for Hollywood; however, having had some experience in the field of this type of equipment, I feel this is probably a fair offer considering the age and condition of some of the equipment and the lack of bidders who would be interested in the radios when the remainder of the system necessary to make those radios function is unavailable. Accordingly, I would request that we investigate whether or not we can declare this equipment surplus and accept the above referenced offer. If the foregoing meets with your approval, I hereby request that it be placed on the regular commission meeting agenda to be held on August loth ® If anything further is needed please let me know.
