HomeMy WebLinkAboutR-2004-157 Hurricane Preparedness RESOLUTION NO. 2004-157 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF DANIA BEACH, FLORIDA, DIRECTING THAT AN ANNUAL CITY HURRICANE PREPAREDNESS PLAN BE PRESENTED BY THE CITY MANAGER TO THE CITY COMMISSION AT A PUBLIC HEARING ON OR BEFORE JUNE 1st OF EACH YEAR; PROVIDING FOR CONFLICTS; FURTHER,PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS,the City Commission has determined that in light of the increasing frequency, duration and strength of tropical storms and hurricanes which threaten South Florida,it is necessary and desirable that the readiness of the City for such events be reported annually to the City Commission and the public in advance of the storm season; and WHEREAS,the City Commission wishes to be informed on the state of preparedness of the City for each storm season, well in advance of the beginning of each such season; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE • CITY OF DANIA BEACH, FLORIDA: Section 1. That the City Commission of the City of Dania Beach, Florida directs the City Manager to present an annual hurricane preparedness plan to the City Commission on or before June 1 of each year. Such plan shall be presented at a regular City Commission meeting at which a public hearing shall be held, and the plan must contain written reports from each department as to the measures taken to ensure a state of readiness and preparedness of the City to cope with seasonal storm events. Section 2. That all resolutions or parts of resolutions in conflict with this resolution are repealed to the extent of such conflict. 1 RESOLUTION NO. 2004-157 Section 3.
