HomeMy WebLinkAboutR-2003-112 Chevrolet Suburban Fire Dept RESOLUTION NO. 2003-112 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF DANIA BEACH, FLORIDA, AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO PURCHASE ONE (1) 2003 CHEVROLET SUBURBAN UTILITY VEHICLE IN AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED $30,384.00, FROM GARBER CHEVROLET, INC., UNDER STATE OF FLORIDA BID NO. 070-001-03-1, WITHOUT COMPETITIVE BIDDING AND WITHOUT ADVERTISEMENT FOR BIDS; PROVIDING THAT ALL RESOLUTIONS IN CONFLICT HEREWITH BE REPEALED TO THE EXTENT OF SUCH CONFLICT; AND PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, the Charter of the City of Dania Beach, Part III, Article 3, Section 4, Subsection (J), authorizes the City Manager to purchase supplies, services, equipment and materials for the city government in amounts in excess of Fifteen Thousand Dollars ($15,000.00) without competitive bidding and without advertisement for bids if he is authorized to do so in advance by a resolution adopted by the City Commission and if such purchases are made pursuant to a competitive bid obtained within the last twelve (12) months by other governmental agencies such as the Federal Government, State of Florida or a Florida county or municipality; and WHEREAS, the City Manager has determined that it is necessary to purchase one 2003 Chevrolet Suburban utility vehicle in an amount not to exceed $30,384.00 for use by the City of Dania Beach Fire-Rescue Department; and WHEREAS, the City Manager has determined that such purchase can be made at the least cost to the City by purchasing said vehicle from Garber Chevrolet, Inc., 500-501 N. Orange Avenue, Green Cove Springs, Florid a,. under State of Florida bid number 070-001-03-1, a copy of which is attached hereto. ? _ WHEREAS, the City Commission has approved the financing of the vehicle in the amount of $32,000.00 in February, 2003. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF DANIA BEACH, FLORIDA: Section 1. That the City Manager be and is hereby authorized to pay an amount not to exceed the sum of $30,384.00 from the Fire-Rescue Department budget to Garber Chevrolet, 1 RESOLUTION NO. 2003-112 Inc., 500-501 N. Orange Avenue, Green Cove Springs, Florida for the purchase of one 2003 Chevrolet Suburban utility vehicle, under State of Florida Bid No. 070-001-03-1, a copy of which is attached hereto. Section 2. That all resolutions or parts of resolutions in conflict with this resolution are repealed to the extent of such conflict. Section 3. That this resolution shall be in force and take effect immediately upon its passage and adoption. This vehicle is necessary to replace the 1991 Ford Bronco which, due to its poor condition and high mileage, can no longer ® be utilized as a command vehicle. The 2003 Suburban should provide us a minimum of ten years of service with full capabilities as a command vehicle. In addition, it is large enough to carry all equipment recommended by OSHA the Department of Homeland Security and the State of Florida Division of Emergency Management.
