® A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF DANIA BEACH, FLORIDA,
STRONGLY SUPPORTING THE ENACTMENT OF HOUSE BILL 0019
AND SENATE BILL 1498 KNOWN AS "THE DIGNITY FOR ALL
STUDENTS ACT" WHICH PROHIBITS HARASSMENT AND
DISCRIMINATION OF, AND THREATS OF VIOLENCE AGAINST,
STUDENTS BASED UPON IDENTITIES OR EXPRESSIONS OF
CERTAIN CATEGORIES OF PERSONS, PROHIBITS RETALIATION
AGAINST STUDENTS WHO ASSERT RIGHTS UNDER THE ACT,
AND REQUIRES EDUCATIONAL INSTITUTIONS COVERED BY THE
ACT TO DEVELOP AND IMPLEMENT METHODS AND STRATEGIES
CONCERNING THE PROTECTIONS OF THE ACT; PROVIDING FOR
AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, House Bill 0019 and Senate Bill 1498, also known as the "Dignity for All
Students Act", is currently being considered by the Florida Legislature; and
WHEREAS, the City Commission of the City of Dania Beach, Florida, express their
strong support for the enactment of House Bill 0019 and Senate Bill 1498; and
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF DANIA BEACH, FLORIDA:
Section 1. That the foregoing preamble is hereby ratified and confirmed as true and
correct by the City Commissioners of the City of Dania Beach, Florida.
Section 2. That the City Commission of the City of Dania Beach, Florida, hereby
express their strong support for the enactment of House Bill 0019 and Senate Bill 1498, also
known as the "Dignity for All Students Act", and encourage Governor Bush to sign the Bill into
law.
Section 3. That a copy of this Resolution shall be sent to Governor Jeb Bush, all
members of the Broward County Legislative Delegation, the Mayor of Broward County and the
Mayors of all municipalities in Broward County, to evidence the unequivocal support for the
enactment of the "Dignity for All Students Act" by the City Commission of the City of Dania
Beach, Florida.
Section 3. That this resolution shall be in force and take effect immediately upon its
passage and adoption.
