Comm Chamber Renovations 2003 RESOLUTION NO. 2003-152 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF DANIA BEACH, FLORIDA, AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO PROCEED WITH RENOVATIONS OF THE CITY COMMISSION CHAMBER AS RECOMMENDED BY STEVEN MATABLE, A.S.I.D. FOR A TOTAL PROJECT COST NOT TO EXCEED $86,000.00, WITHOUT COMPETITIVE BIDDING AND WITHOUT ADVERTISEMENT FOR BIDS, AUTHORIZING THE PROPER CITY OFFICIALS TO ENGAGE THE SERVICES OF MR. MATABLE BY CONTRACT FOR THE PROVISION OF DESIGN AND RENOVATION PROPOSAL SERVICES; PROVIDING FOR TRANFER OF FUNDING FROM CONTINGENCY; PROVIDING FOR CONFLICTS; FURTHER, PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, the Charter of the City of Dania Beach, Part III, Article 3, Section 4, Subsection (J), provides that during unusual conditions or emergencies, the City Commission may, by resolution, authorize the purchase by the City Manager of designated supplies, services, equipment and materials in amounts in excess of fifteen thousand dollars ($15,000.00) without competitive bids and without advertisement for bids; and WHEREAS, the City Manager has determined that it is beneficial to the City of Dania Beach to engage Steven Matable, A.S.I.D. as the Interior Designer to provide design and renovation proposals and to coordinate the project, as services are described in Exhibit A, a copy of which is attached to this Resolution, in connection with the City Commission Chamber Renovation Project for completion no later than August 11, 2003; and WHEREAS, all renovations will meet or exceed federal ADA requirements; and WHEREAS, funding for the project was approved in the FY 2003 CIP in the amount of$75,000.00; and 1 RESOLUTION NO. 2003-152 WHEREAS, a funding of $3,962 is available from the AT&T funds for a total available funds of $78,962; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF DANIA BEACH, FLORIDA: Section 1. That the City Commission of the City of Dania Beach, Florida, approves the engagement by contract of the services of Steven Matable, A.S.I.D. as the Interior Designer to provide design and renovation proposal services and other services as described in Exhibit A, a copy of which is attached to this Resolution, in connection with the City Commission Chamber Renovation Project. Section 2. That the City Manager is authorized to accept construction and design proposals which are in the best interest of the City as recommended by Steven Matable, A.S.I.D. and that renovations will be completed by August 11, 2003 for a total • project amount, including Steven Matable professional fees as described in Exhibit A for an amount not to exceed $86,000.00. Section 3. That the Director of Finance is authorized to transfer $7,038 from the General Fund Contingency Account to the Capital Projects Fund for the funding of the remaining project costs. Section 4. That all resolutions or parts of resolutions in conflict with this resolution are repealed to the extent of such conflict. • 2 RESOLUTION NO. 2003-152 Section 5. Dania Beach Blvd Dania Beach, FL 33004 The following will outline the services I will provide to The City of Dania Beach for the renovation of the City Commissioners Assembly Hall (Chamber): 1. Provide the overall design for the renovation including renderings, working drawings for permitting, research for ADA compliance and Uniform Building Code for Assembly. 2. Facilitate the seeking of proposals from suppliers including labor and materials. 3. Assemble the renovation proposals from the recommended suppliers. 4. Coordinate the sequence required for the suppliers to renovate the assembly hall (Chamber) within the time period allotted (June 25, 2003 to August 11, 2003). 5. Ensure all suppliers use colors and materials included in design, renderings and drawings.
