Home My WebLink AboutR-2006-212 Code Vehicle RESOLUTION NO. 200b-212 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF DANIA BEACH, FLORIDA AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO PURCHASE A VEHICLE FOR THE CODE COMPLIANCE DIVISION IN THE AMOUNT OF $15,502.00 FROM DUVAL FORD, UNDER THE FLORIDA SHERIFF'S OFFICE CONTRACT, WITHOUT COMPETITIVE BIDDING AND WITHOUT ADVERTISEMENT FOR BIDS; PROVIDING FOR FUNDING, PROVIDING FOR CONFLICTS; FURTHER, PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, the Charter of the City of Dania Beach, Part III, Article 3, Section 4, Subsection 0), authorizes the City Manager to purchase supplies, services, equipment and materials for the city government in amounts in excess of$15,000.00 without competitive bidding and without advertisement for bids if he is authorized to do so in advance by a resolution adopted by the City Commission and if such purchases are made pursuant to a competitive bid obtained within the last twelve (12) months by other governmental agencies such as the federal government, State of Florida or a Florida county or municipality; and WHEREAS, the City Manager has determined that it is necessary to purchase one new vehicle for the additional code compliance officer that was approved in the FY 2007 budget; and WHEREAS, the City Manager has determined that such purchase can be made at the least cost to the City from Duval Ford under the Florida Sheriff's Office contract in the amount of $15,502.00, which is attached as Exhibit"A" and made a part of this Resolution; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF DANIA BEACH, FLORIDA: Section 1. That the City Manager is authorized to pay an amount not to exceed the sum of$15,502.00 to Duval Ford for the purchase of a 2007 Ford Focus. Section 2. That the Director of Finance is authorized to transfer funds for the purchase of a Fire Inspector vehicle to the Code Compliance Division. Section 3. That this Resolution shall be in force and take effect immediately upon its passage and adoption. PASSED and ADOPTED on November 28, 2006. The City Manager has decided that a Ford Ranger with extended cab is more appropriate for this use. The Community Development has a 1998 Ford Ranger with 33,995 miles. It is therefore proposed that this vehicle be transferred to Fire Inspection from the Code Compliance Division. In return, we will transfer funds budgeted in the Fire division to Code Compliance division for the purchase of a new Ford Focus including a 72 month/100,000 mile extended warranty for a total amount of$15,502. This vehicle is equipped with 4 cylinder 1-4 Duratec fuel efficient engine rated at 27MPG City and 37 MPG Highway. This will assist in reduction of fuel consumption.
