Home My WebLink AboutR-2003-191 Precinct Boundary Lines RESOLUTION NO. 2003- 191 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF DANIA BEACH, FLORIDA, REQUESTING APPROVAL BY THE BROWARD COUNTY COMMISSION OF PROPOSED PRECINCT BOUNDARY LINE CHANGES IDENTIFIED IN EXHIBIT "A" AND LOCATED WITHIN THE CITY OF DANIA BEACH; AUTHORIZING THE BROWARD COUNTY SUPERVISOR OF ELECTIONS OFFICE TO NOTIFY ALL AFFECTED VOTERS AND MAIL NEW VOTER REGISTRATION CARDS AS REQUIRED; PROVIDING THAT ALL PRECINCT CHANGES BE INCORPORATED ON THE BROWARD COUNTY SUPERVISOR OF ELECTIONS PRECINCT MAP; PROVIDING FOR CONFLICTS; FURTHER, PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, voters living in the City of Dania Beach experienced voting inconveniences at some of the voting precincts during the 2003 City Elections as a result of the boundary lines drawn by the Broward County Supervisor of Elections Office during the July 2002 redistricting process; and WHEREAS, the City Commission held a workshop meeting on June 17, 2003, to hear from citizens and poll workers on changes to precinct boundary lines to better serve the voting public and to direct the City Clerk to proceed with making the necessary corrections; and WHEREAS, it is the desire of the City Commission to formally request that the Broward County Commission approve the proposed changes to the City's precinct boundary lines to better serve the voting communities as outlined in Exhibit "A"; and WHEREAS, upon approval by the Broward County Commission, the City Commission of the City of Dania Beach requests that the Broward County Supervisor of Elections Office notify all affected voters of said changes and that all voters be mailed new voter registration cards indicating their new precinct voting location; and WHEREAS, upon approval by the Broward County Commission, the City Commission of the City of Dania Beach requests that all precinct boundary line changes be incorporated into the Broward County Supervisor of Elections Precinct Map; 1 RESOLUTION NO. 2003-191 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY • OF DANIA BEACH, FLORIDA: Section 1. That the City Commission of the City of Dania Beach, Florida, approves the boundary line changes as identified and attached as Exhibit "A" to this Resolution. Section 2. That the City Clerk is authorized to make minor revisions to the proposed changes identified as Exhibit "A" as are deemed necessary and proper and in the best interest of the City. Section 3. That all resolutions or parts of resolutions in conflict with this resolution are repealed to the extent of such conflict. Section 4. That this resolution shall be in force and take effect immediately upon its passage and adoption. ANSBRO CITY ATTORNEY • 2 RESOLUTION NO. 2003-191 EXHIBIT "A' • CITY OF DANIA BEACH BOUNDARY AND LOCATION CHANGES FOR THE FOLLOWING PRECINCTS: (see attached map) 1) Pct. 4S — Dr. Herman Wrice Community Center/BSO Subsation 803 NW 1st Street (NW 8TH AVE. & NW 1st ST.) The boundary lines for Precinct 4S shall include Old Griffin Road on the North, US#1 on the East, Stirling Road on the south, and Bryan Road on the west. 2) Pct. 8S — Patrick J. Meli Park Community Center 2901 SW 52 Street The boundary lines for Precinct 8S shall include Griffin Road on the North then east to SW 24 Avenue (western boundary for Griffin Lakes Townhome Development) and SW 51st Court and then following the same southern and western boundaries as indicated on the Precinct Map. 3) Pct. 9S — IGFA Fishing Hall of Fame • Bass Pro Outdoor World 300 Gulfstream Way The boundary lines for Precinct 9S shall include Griffin Road on the North, US.#1 on the East then following south to Dania Cut-off Canal and Old Griffin Road going west to Bryan Road and then south to Stirling Road and west to Anglers/Ravenswood Road and then north up to SW 51st Court (southern boundary for the Griffin Lakes Townhome Development) and crossing over Anglers/Ravenswood Road and then west to SW 24 Avenue (the western boundary for the Griffin Lakes Townhome development) and north. to Griffin Road. 4) Pct. 10S Oak Hill Condominium 5152 SW 40 Avenue No change to boundary lines for Precinct 10S — The Precinct will include mostly Dania Beach voters and 7 or so voters located in the unincorporated area west of 441. 5) Pct. 13S Estates of Fort Lauderdale Club House 2850 SW 54 Street Additional voters will be included in 13S from 63V and 8S. The boundary lines for 13S will remain the same as indicated on the Precinct Map, however, the area previously located in Precinct 8S on the north from Lake Shore Drive • 3 RESOLUTION NO. 2003-191 and east to Anglers/Ravenswood Road and then south to Stirling will now be included in . Precinct 13S. The 76 Dania Beach voters from 63V will now been included in 13S. 6) Pct. 63V— Patrick J. Meli Park Community Center 2901 SW 52 Street Some 76 Dania Beach voters will be removed from 63V and placed in 13S.
