Home My WebLink AboutR-2003-245 RUSS KLENET Engagement letter RESOLUTION NO. 2003-245 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF DANIA BEACH FLORIDA AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO ENGAGE WITH RUSS KLENET & ASSOCIATES FOR THE PROVISION OF CONSULTING SERVICES IN CONNECTION WITH THE CRA, AIRPORT EXPANSION, DREDGING AND OTHER RELATED ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT MATTERS OF CONCERN TO THE CITY, WITHOUT COMPETITIVE BIDDING AND WITHOUT ADVERTISEMENT FOR BIDS; PROVIDING FOR CONFLICTS; FURTHER, PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, the Charter of the City of Dania Beach, Part III, Article 3, Section 4, subsection (j), authorizes the City Manager to purchase supplies, services, equipment and materials for the City government in amounts in excess of $15,000.00 without competitive bidding and without advertisement for bids if he is authorized to do so in advance by a resolution adopted by the City Commission and if such purchases are, as prescribed in pertinent part in the Charter, needed due.to unusual conditions or emergencies; and WHEREAS, the City Manager has determined that consulting services needed by the City can be obtained at the least cost by engaging with Russ Klenet & Associates, 515 S.E. Seventh Street, Fort Lauderdale, Florida 33301, for consulting services to be provided in connection with the CRA, airport expansion, dredging, related economic development matters and other issues that are of concern to the City; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF DANIA BEACH, FLORIDA: Section 1. That the City Commission finds that due to the presence of unusual conditions, it is necessary to authorize the City Manager to purchase consulting services from the general fund budget with Russ Klenet & Associates, for an annual fee of $15,600, and from time to time for expenses not to exceed $200 per month with prior approval from the City Manager and substantiated with receipts. 1 RESOLUTION NO. 2003-245 Section 2. The City Manager and City Attorney are authorized to make minor revisions to such engagement letter as are deemed necessary and proper for the best interests of the City. Section 3. That all resolutions or parts of resolutions in conflict with this resolution are repealed to the extent of such conflict. Section 4. That this resolution shall be in force and take effect immediately upon its passage and adoption. PASSED and ADOPTED this 28th day of October, 2003. Explanation The City Commission had previously authorized an engagement letter for the provision of consulting services with the firm of Russ Klenet & Associates (RKA). The attached resolution and letter of engagement represent a housekeeping matter so that the engagement period will be renewed for the period October 1, 2003 through September 30, 2004. Recommendation Approval of the accompanying resolution authorizing an engagement letter with RKA for the current fiscal year. This letter shall serve as the engagement letter between Russ Klenet &Associates (RK&A) and the City of Dania Beach, for professional services. RK&A will continue in our current capacity to assist the City and the Commission with issues related to governmental affairs and economic development. We have enjoyed our representatlon of the City and look forward tv the futuie together. We agree to represent the City in front of the Florida Legislature and the Executive Branch of State Government including any and all appropriate State Agencies, i.e.: South Florida Water Management District. We will also represent • the City to the Broward County Commission, School Board and other appropriate governmental agencies. We will continue to be a part of the team that focuses on economic opportunities for the City including the CRA. We will continue to invoice the City $1300.00 monthly for our fee. We will also bill the City from time to time for expenses not to exceed $200.00 monthly with prior approval from the City Manager.
