DANIA BEACH CITY COMMISSION
WORKSHOP MEETING
SEPTEMBER 30, 2002
1. CALL TO ORDER:
Mayor Chunn called the meeting to order at 6:05 p.m.
2. ROLL CALL:
Present:
Mayor: Robert H. Chunn, Jr.
Vice-Mayor: Pat Flury
Commissioners: John Bertino
C.K. McElyea
City Attorney: Tom Ansbro
Acting City Manager: Laurence Leeds
City Clerk: Charlene Johnson
Absent:
Commissioner: Bob Mikes
eity Attorney Ansbro explained to all of the firms that they have a choice of remaining while the other firms
make their presentations or they may wait outside the Conference Room until they are individually called in to
make a presentation. All of the three firms decided to remain outside the Conference Room while each firm
gave their presentation.
3. AUDIT FIRM PRESENTATIONS
6:10 p.m. — Rachlin, Cohen & Holz
6:25 p.m. — Keefe, McCullough & Co.
6:40 p.m.- Grau & Company
Representatives on behalf of each firm presented company background information, years of experience and
pointed out the governmental agencies currently utilizing their services. Team members were introduced and
provided an opportunity to explain their professional backgrounds. Discussion followed on the importance of
each firm having expertise in computer and technical aspects of the audit, GSBE 34 requirements and
familiarity with municipal government audits. The City Commission generally agreed that the selected firm
would need to commit qualified personnel to work closely with the Finance Department and provide competent
and experienced assistance during the entire audit process. (See attached Audit Proposals for each firm)
Discussion followed on problems that the City of Hollywood experienced with Rachlin, Cohen & Holtz.
Vice-Mayor Flury pointed out that Grau & Company appears to have the most experience and has the best
*am or she agreed that Rachlin & Cohen could.be considered.

Commissioner McElyea disagreed with selecting Rachlin & Cohen.
*ity Attorney Ansbro advised the City Commission that it may negotiate price with the firms tonight or direct
staff to negotiate the price for the three-year audit and that the firms should be ranked so that staff will know
how to proceed should negotiations not work out with the first ranked firm.
The City Commission generally agreed with $150,000 for the three-year contract.
This meeting adjourned at 6:40 p.m.
