HomeMy WebLinkAboutR-2006-222 Bucket truck purchase 1 RESOLUTION NO. 2006-222 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF DANIA BEACH, FLORIDA AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO PURCHASE A VEHICLE (AN AT37-G AERIAL DEVICE "BUCKET TRUCK" VEHICLE) FOR THE PUBLIC SERVICES DEPARTMENT IN THE AMOUNT OF $78,086.00 FROM ALTEC, UNDER A FEDERAL G.S.A. CONTRACT, WITHOUT COMPETITIVE BIDDING AND WITHOUT ADVERTISEMENT FOR BIDS; PROVIDING FOR FUNDING, PROVIDING FOR CONFLICTS; FURTHER, PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, the Charter of the City of Dania Beach, Part III, Article 3, Section 4, Subsection 0) authorizes the City Manager to purchase supplies, services, equipment and materials for the City government in amounts in excess of $15,000.00 without competitive bidding and without advertisement for bids if he is authorized to do so in advance by a resolution adopted by the City Commission and if such purchases are made pursuant to a competitive bid obtained within the last twelve (12) months by other governmental agencies such as the federal government, State of Florida or a Florida county or municipality; and WHEREAS, the City Manager has determined that such a purchase can be made for the Public Services Department at the least cost to the City from Altec under a federal G.S.A. contract in the amount of$78,086.00, which is attached as Exhibit"A" and made a part of this Resolution; and WHEREAS, the Commission has approved $77,000.00 in the FY 2007 budget to purchase such vehicle (approved in the Capital Projects Fund from funding derived from the three cents' gas tax); NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF DANIA BEACH, FLORIDA: Section 1. That the City Manager is authorized to pay an amount not to exceed the sum of $78,086.00 to Altec under a federal.G.S.A. contract for the purchase of an AT37-G Aerial Device("Bucket Truck") Vehicle. Section 2. That the Director of Finance is authorized to appropriate the additional amount of$1,086.00 from the three cents' gas tax and to transfer to the Capital Projects Fund the funding for such purchase. Section 3. That all resolutions or parts of resolutions in conflict with this Resolution are repealed to the extent of such conflict. Section 4. That this Resolution shall be in force and take effect immediately upon its passage and adoption. PASSED and ADOPTED on December 12, 2006. This contract period is effective from August 1, 2002 through July 31, 2007 listed as #GS-30E-1028G Administration Schedule#FSC V "vehicle-mounted personnel lifts". Item#A,-7 in the GSA,price list booklet refers to an Altec AT37-G telescopic articulating 0 aerial lift with, $miee/line body. This unit has an actual working height of 42 feet. The unit and body will be mounted on a new Ford F-550 series chassis to include such items as diesel engine, automatic transmission and factory air conditioning. Director of Public Services BY: Leo Williams,Public Works Superintendent Date: December 5, 2006 RE: Vehicle Purchases - December 12, 2006 Agenda During this years budget hearings it was decided that the City required a new piece of equipment, a bucket truck, to help do all the services we realized were required after the last few years hurricanes and other jobs we were contracting out such as tree trimming and pruning and maintaining the new solar lighting we will be installing thru out the City. The truck we are requesting would meet these goals. This is not a replacement piece of equipment but a new addition to our fleet. We other vehicle requested is part of our Vehicle Replacement Program and was the one vehicle allowed for this Department in last year's budget. It is for the Stormwater Department and will be equipped to also help Fleet Management to service broken down vehicles if needed. This vehicle will allow us to dispose of the two following vehicles which will be put up for auction the same as last years vehicles were.
