A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF DANIA BEACH, FLORIDA, ENDORSING THE
APPLICATION FOR A GRANT FROM THE BROWARD COUNTY SWIM CENTRAL
CHALLENGE GRANT PROGRAM FOR DESIGN AND CONTRUCTION OF A
SWIMMING POOL AT PATRICK J. MELI PARK. PROVIDING FOR CONFLICTS;
FURTHER, PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF DANIA BEACH,
FLORIDA:
Section 1. That the City of Dania Beach will apply for a grant through the Broward
County Swim Central Challenge Grant Program for design and construction of a swimming pool
at Patrick J. Meli Park.
Section 2. That the City of Dania Beach will apply for a $1,500,000 grant (maximum,
with no match) to design and build a swimming pool at Patrick J. Meli Park.
Section 3. That all resolutions in conflict herewith be repealed to the extent of such
conflict.
Section 4. That this resolution shall be in force and take effect immediately upon its
passage and adoption.

1• Grant projects must be aquatics related to the SWIM Central Program.
2. Grants may be up to a maximum of$1,500,000 with no cash match.
3. Facility must be in close proximity to a public elementary school.
4. Pools must be heated.
°5• Applicants can not have more than one ongoing grant.
6. Projects cannot have broken ground, but can be in any planning stage.
7• Grant monies must be spent within a five year time limit.
8. All grant funds are to be paid on a reimbursement basis, upon successful completion letion of the

9. All projects will provide access to residents and nonresident alike.
10. All project sites are to be owned by the applicant or have• a ease of a minimum of 25 l years.
11. All projects will remain in public parks and recreation use for a minimum of 25 years.
12. Funds can be used for outdoor or indoor aquatic facilities
13. All applicants will provide a resolution from their governing board in support ofthe proposed
project.
14. Projects will accommodate recognized parks/recreational standards for similar facilities.
15. Applicants must be sufficiently capable and qualified to complete the proposed project,
operate and maintain the facility.
16. Grant funds can not be used for land acquisition.
17. No funds are to be used for recreation programming and operation costs.
18. Non-profit organizations applying for grants must obtain a resolution of approval fr

services in the area it will serve. The more amenities or project elements that are
the higher the score. Also, does the proposed project provide for new or increased use of
instructional/recreational facilities by minorities, the disadvantaged, children, elderly, persons
