HomeMy WebLinkAboutR-2001-017 Grant program for renovation for Tigertail Lake park RESOLUTION NO. 2001-017 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF DANIA BEACH, FLORIDA, ENDORSING THE PARTNERSHIP BEWTEEN THE CITY OF DANIA BEACH, BROWARD COMMUNITY COLLEGE AND THE INTERNATIONAL GAME FISH ASSOCIATION IN THEIR APPLICATION FOR A GRANT FROM THE BROWARD COUNTY SAFE PARKS AND LAND PRESERVATION CHALLENGE GRANT PROGRAM FOR RENOVATION AND DEVELOPMENT OF TIGERTAIL LAKE PARK; PROVIDING FOR CONFLICTS; FURTHER, PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE. BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF DANIA BEACH, FLORIDA: Section 1. That the partnership between the City of Dania Beach, Broward Community College (BCC) and the International Game Fish Association (IGFA) will apply for a $500,000 grant through the Broward County Safe Parks and Land Preservation Challenge Grant Program for renovation and development to Tigertail Lake Park and the Broward Community College Foundation will be the Lead Agency and Fiscal Agent for the grant application. Section 2. That Broward Community College Foundation as Lead Agency and Fiscal Agent, will provide additional matching grant funds in the amount of$500,000, therefore, providing a total of$1,000,000 for renovation and development of Tigertail Lake Park. Section 3. That all resolutions in conflict herewith be repealed to the extent of such conflict. Section 4. A *e R� 1�t1 ! a l� s t BROWARD COUNTY SAFE PARKS & LAND PRESERVATION PROGRAM CHALLENGE GRANT MINIMUM 011ALIFICATIONS AND R ULES 1. Grants for up to $200,000 require no cash match. 2. Grants from $200,001 to $500,000 require a 25% cash match. 3. Applicants can not have more than three ongoing grants. 4. Projects cannot have broken ground, but can be in any planning stage. 5. Grant monies must be spent within a five year time limit. 6. All grant funds are to be paid on a reimbursement basis, upon successful completion of the project. ® 7. All projects will provide access to municipal residents and nonresidents alike. 8. All project sites are to be owned by the applicant or have a lease of a minimum of 25 years. 9. All projects will remain in public parks and recreation use for a minimum of 25 years. 10. Funds can be used for outdoor and indoor recreation facilities. 11. All applicants will provide a resolution from their governing board in support ofthe proposed project. 12. Non-profit organizations applying for grants must obtain a resolution of approval from the city in which the project is located. 13. Projects will be consistent with recognized parks/recreational standards for similar facilities. 14. Applicants must be sufficiently capable and qualified to complete the proposed project, operate, and maintain the facility. 15. No funds are to be used for recreation programming and operational costs. 16.
