Home My WebLink AboutR-2001-069 RESOLUTION NO. 2001-069 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF DANIA BEACH, FLORIDA AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO PURCHASE ONE BACKHOE WITH VARIOUS NEEDED OPTIONS AND A FULL EXTENDED WARRANTY FROM BRIGGS EQUIPMENT, UNDER FLORIDA DEPARTMENT OF MANAGEMENT CONTRACT NO. 760-001-99-1, IN AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED $62,605.30, WITHOUT COMPETITIVE BIDDING AND WITHOUT ADVERTISEMENT FOR BIDS; PROVIDING FOR CONFLICTS; FURTHER, PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, the Charter of the City of Dania Beach, Part III, Article 3, Section 4, Subsection (J), authorizes the city manager to purchase supplies, services, equipment and materials for the city government in amounts in excess of Fifteen Thousand Dollars ($15,000.00) without competitive bidding and without advertisement for bids if he is authorized to do so in advance by a resolution adopted by the city commission and if ® such purchases are made pursuant to a competitive bid obtained within the last twelve (12) months by other governmental agencies such as the Federal Government, State of Florida or a Florida county or municipality; and WHEREAS, the city manager has determined that it is necessary to purchase One Backhoe with necessary options and a full warranty at a purchase price not to exceed $62,605.30, which includes a $4,750.00 deduction from the full purchase price for the trade value of the City's old backhoe; and WHEREAS, the city manager has determined that such purchases can be made at the least cost to the city by purchasing said Backhoe package from Briggs Equipment under Florida Department of Management Contract No. 760-001-99-1, a copy of which is attached hereto and made a part hereof as Exhibit "A." NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF DANIA BEACH, FLORIDA: 1 RESOLUTION NO. 2001-069 Section 1. That the city manager is authorized to pay Briggs Equipment an amount not to exceed $62,605.30 for one new Backhoe with necessary options and a full warranty package from a combination of Water and Sewer Funds. We currently • use a Case that is fairly new and has many years of service left but is always being used for our drainage and other projects. Our other backhoe is approximately 15 years old and basically is used only for emergency back up because of its age and condition. Because of the distances of the areas we will soon be serving, the amount of time consumed moving the backhoe from site to site, the need for a reliable backup, and the sheer fact we need a backhoe more than one place at a time quite often, I believe now is the time to go ahead and purchase a new backhoe. There are surplus funds in the sewer and water funds to cover this purchase, which will give us the flexibility to handle water or sewer projects or emergencies without stopping ongoing drainage and landscaping projects. The backhoe I am recommending is a Case 58OM with 4 wheel drive to be purchased off of Florida Department Of Management Contract #760-001-99-1. The total purchase price of the complete package with needed options and full extended warranty is $62,605.30 ($67,355.30 - $4750.00 trade on old JCB backhoe).
