Home My WebLink AboutR-2001-176 RESOLUTION NO. 2001-176 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF DANIA BEACH, FLORIDA RATIFYING THE CITY MANAGER'S PURCHASE OF SUPPLIES, SERVICES, MATERIALS, AND EQUIPMENT IN THE AMOUNT OF $12,874.00 FROM RUSSELL-THOMAS CONTRACTING, INC., WITHOUT COMPETITIVE BIDDING AND WITHOUT ADVERTISEMENT FOR BIDS; AUTHORIZING THE PROPER CITY OFFICIALS TO EXECUTE AN AGREEMENT WITH RUSSELL-THOMAS CONTRACTING, INC. FOR THE INSTALLATION OF ELECTRICAL EQUIPMENT AT FROST PARK; PROVIDING FOR CONFLICTS; FURTHER, PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, the Charter of the City of Dania Beach, Part III, Article 3, Section 4, Subsection (J), authorizes the city manager to purchase supplies, services, equipment and materials for the city government in excess of seven thousand five hundred dollars ($7,500.00) and in an amount up to and including fifteen thousand dollars ($15,000.00), without competitive bidding and without advertisement for bids, if he is authorized to do so in advance by a resolution adopted by the city commission. Contracts for the purchase of supplies, services, materials and equipment for the city government in excess of fifteen thousand dollars ($15,000.00) shall not be entered into or let except by authorization and approval of the city commission, after advertisement for bids in a newspaper published in Broward County, Florida, which is generally circulated within the city limits of the City of Dania, Florida, with such publication to be published weekly for two (2) consecutive weeks with the first publication to be not less than fifteen (15) days prior to the reception of bids. However, during unusual conditions or emergencies, the city commission may, by resolution, authorize the purchase by the city manager of designated (supplies, services, equipment and materials in amounts in excess of fifteen thousand dollars ($15,000.00) without competitive bids and without advertisement for bids; and WHEREAS, the city manager determined that it was an emergency, per the Chief Electrical Inspector, to replace electrical equipment at Frost Park; and • 1 RESOLUTION NO. 2001-176 WHEREAS, the city manager has determined that such purchase could be made at the least cost to the city by purchasing from Russell-Thomas Contracting, Inc., in the amount of $12,874.00 and he is authorized to pay the total sum from Parks and Recreation operating account #001-72-1511-53-467 to Russell-Thomas Contracting, Inc., 15901 S.W. 53 Court, Ft. Lauderdale, Florida 33331, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF DANIA BEACH, FLORIDA: Section 1. That that certain agreement with Russell-Thomas Contracting, Inc. for the installation of electrical service at Frost Park dated September 13, 2001, attached as Exhibit "A", is approved and the proper city officials are authorized to execute same. Section 2. That the City Manager and the City Attorney are authorized to make minor revisions to such Agreement as are deemed necessary and proper for the best interests of the City. Section 3. That this resolution shall be in force and take effect immediately upon its passage and adoption. We will replace the two wood support poles w7th concrete poles, install a new conduit riser with new feeder wire to connect to FPL, install two new 200 amp. three phase disconnects, install a new 200 amp. Lighting contactor, install a new 150 amp. Panel with breakers,new conduit nipples and wire between the new equipment. We will reconnect the existing underground conduit and wire to the new service equipment. The existing irrigation controller and motor starter will be reused and reconnected to the new service along with the CT Can and Meter. • We will invoice this work on a time and materials basis not to exceed the above quoted price.
